IE its something pop, and gripping, but its not truely great, in the way that the best things in the art form are great, doesnt advance the art form in any serious way (other than bringing the kids in), and to be honest is mainly (though not only) of interest to kids or people who have kids.

I love HP, but Im not sure the comparison is what you want.

Oh, and the later HP books WERE different from the earlier books, they were darker, generally more stylistically sophisticated, etc.

POTM was at nerd camp when the book came out so we didn't have to line up with her.

QOTM: Shouldnt we go the bookstore for all the hoopla?
      LOTM:?!?!!?!

It's true that was the highlight.

Though for HP, not Halo3 .

And I didn't queue outside the store. There's a system, you queue earlier to get a colored pass (showing your place in the midnight line... earlier in the early queue, earlier in the midnight queue) that you bring back at like 11:30, when you queue inside the store .

So more like queuing for 20 minutes in the early evening and then 30 minutes until midnight and just kind of walking around the store and going for dinner for the time in between .

              • That still rates as weird, albeit slightly less weird than queuing outside for hours.

                      ERRRRROR.

What was being compared was the pop culture phenomenon, nothing about its greatness at all.

Please try again, this time making sense.

                          • Verdict: campaign was underwhelming. The last level was particularly lame. The first 4-5 levels were kickass though.
