There's some pretty lame stuff going on as well. I've seen strogg tanks on the first mountain over looking the bridge. Took us forever to get it off. I have NFI how you can drive a tank up there, must be some glitch. Multiple guys up there as well. I also saw GDF guys on the mountain above the last strogg spawn point(he kept raining air strike grenades). Lame stuff like that sort of takes away from the action, and it's pretty damn effective because unless you know about the exploit you have no idea what's going on.

haha, cool
pg, Solver, when the first ET came out, most people were just playing it for fun, until some few people found "exploits" to gain significant advantage over the other team; but in due time, others will find counter-exploits, and around the merry-go-round we go. It's not unusual.
Infact, I was playing it lastnight and I realised the depthness of this game will open all sorts of "exploits" yet to be found.
Will be fun, just give it time for the general players to balance it out a bit, I guess it will take a few months.
btw, Solver, while I have not tried medics yet, you actually cannot finish the demo map without an Engineer, Covert Op and Soldier. I read up on the above website that the developers made sure that you will need more than just the engineer to win a game.
I'm still trying to figure out who or if everyone, can disable a bomb.be free

Looks like this game might also suffer from everyone going Medic. Medics can once again heal themselves, and als it turns out your maximum health increases for every medic on the team. I can just see everyone going Medic in a match with one Engineer to complete the objective or somesuch.
(your post is comicaly serious )if you want to stop terrorism; stop participating in it

I played Wolf:ET and liked it quite a lot. It sure suffered from Medic overload IMO, in particular in competitive matches - you'd have a few (or even 1) Engineers to do the objectives, and the rest would be medics.
QW seems pretty good. I really liked the technical side. 2.5 years newer than BF2, runs better and loads faster. The general interface is also very smooth, many good little things about it and has an overall quality. No less than I'd expect from an id game, though.Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

Bought the game yesterday.
****ing awesome game, I love it, and i'm a hard person to impress.
I am itching to play it now, but am working, plan to spend my lunch hour playing it, great for stress relief. I absolutely love the water on the map "Island" I feel like jumping into my monitor to go for a swim.
Infact, I dare say, we are almost there with the graphics; it's almost at the point of believability, once we have achieved it, developers can start to turn their focus primarily to the game mechanics; at the moment, I think its 50/50, but we need to get it to 20/80 (graphics/game mechanics). I reserve 20 for the atmosphere design.Last edited by FrostyBoy; October 3, 2007, 21:03.be free

The problem is exactly that. As graphics approach photorealism, you get more games that primarily try to impress people through top-notch graphics and not through the actual gameplay.
Gameplay aside, I'd rather see physics improvements now. Games are looking pretty damn awesome for the last 3 years. You can build them at an amazing quality with 3-year old engines, you just need enough memory for high-res textures, high-poly models, enough GPU power for shaders, etc.
Most games, though, don't have much in terms of realistic physics. They may have some objects that are affected by physics and lots that aren't. Physics are an area of possible improvements for many games... ones like HL2 or CoH do it well.Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

Maybe next year when things cool down on the 360 I'll have time to check it out. But from the reviews it doesn't seem like I'm missing a whole lot.
No voice chat in the game? In a ****ing FPS game? SHAME. Pathetic, actually."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

It also looks fairly low-poly count. Lots of square graphics, in the day of normal mapping and vertex shaders...why?
Not to mention the overwhelming blandness."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

So which part in that screen do you think looks so poor poly-wise? I see no major issues there except a couple of texture mismatches.
Some of the less important world objects are fairly low-poly, but I hadn't noticed issues with important models on the one map I have.Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

- The ground is perfectly flat
- The bunker looks extremely angular/90s vintage game (don't tell me that's how bunkers look, I've seen bunkers )
- The mountain in the background is angular, like an F-117 stealth fighter"The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
