Hey, you know what? I agree. That's the whole point.

I gave advice on buying a console to someone who asked for it. If Uno doesnt want my advice, I will refrain from offering it. Im sure he can speak for himself.

I wont respond to your trollery on this anymore. You can tell yourself thats a victory, if it does your heart good.

Scrolling in SC4 is just unbearably slow.

Recommended specs: 1 GHz and 256 MB RAM with basic graphics card (32 mb geforce)

That article recounts a lot of problems. I have a machine built a long, long time after those specs came out, with 2 GB ram, 256 mb radeon, a Core duo, etc. Very weird that I get this performance.

Curious, what's your system, and did you do anything to speed it up? I guess I'm not cutting edge enough for a 2003 game..

C2D 2.4 GHz, 2xGeForce 8800GTS 640MB in SLI (actually I had to disable SLI - SimCity 4 doesn't like it very much - so it's just running on one of them), 2GB RAM.

                Asher please explain your avatar

                well then...

                did you build that yourself?

                  My avatar explains itself.

As for Kuci's computer, why such a weak CPU? Even my father, who uses it to check email, has beefier.

IME CPU's never been the bottleneck. That, and I'd heard C2D's are good for overclocking (I ought to do that at some point), and that they were vastly superior to the P4 series.

No. I stand too good a chance of completely ruining that kind of investment (I'm completely inept when it comes to building/fixing stuff) even if I did learn the ins and outs of the hardware.

The CPU can and will definitely be the bottleneck.

It's certainly the bottleneck on my system right now.

Even with physics and whatnot, will a modern FPS or RTS peg a C2D at 100% while idling the GPU(s) at full graphic setting? (Other games aren't really resource intensive.)

You won't be bound now, but you will be in about 1-2 years.

I think it's really stupid to buy 2 8800 GTSes if you're going to pair it with a midrange CPU. The key to high performance PCs is balance.

1-2 years from now I can overclock (or upgrade CPU?). The graphics cards will hit their limit before that (at full settings).
