It's not that I don't care for it. I played it for a year and a half. It's just upsetting people don't realize when they keep playing the same thing that there's better things out there. Improved in every way.

In my case, I think it would be both of the above, but I don't see a problem as long as I still enjoy playing.

I'm not affluent like you though, and can't afford to buy every new mass-player online game that comes out.

I don't buy a new MMO game as they come out. I've purchased 2 MMOs (3 if you count Eve) in the past 4 years.

And actually, I don't pay a damn thing monthly to play my current MMO. Because I made a good decision, something a truly affluent person would make.

You're paying more for your MMO than me.

Not that I want to start you and Con off again but other successful MMOs (with the exception of Eve Online) including LORTO share a lot a characteristics with WoW. And they've added a lot since the pre-Burning Crusade game we played.

I don't agree with the often deployed argument that because WoW has 11 million subscribers it must be much better than its rivals. But it's not groupthink - WoW is genuinely good at what it does. Which is why most MMOs follow it in many ways.

As long as you like the basic Themepark Genre, and thats the kind of MMO you want to play, LOTRO has some attributes that could be argued are better than WoW.

Personally, I think LOTRO is just WoW in a Middle Earth wrapper. But hey if thats what you like then by all means enjoy yourself.

hey, my thread is still around. . longest yet.

couldn't seem to renew my subscription. When I click mastercard it takes me back to the same screen. But going through the 250 unread emails in yahoo since I cancelled my internet and got it back just today, I see a scroll of resurrection from Nicole. I have no idea who Nicole is, she appears to be from my main server (shu halo) from the wording on it. I did know a Nicollette from that server, but she was an attention whore (if you are reading this, sorry ), so I never gave her much attention (she got plenty from all the other geeks who haven't learned their lesson from AW's as I have). So I guess it was her randomly sending out scrolls. I don't know.

So I have 10 free days. I haven't got the XP yet. I tried entering the game and playing BC stuff to see if it works. But I'm stuck on a 1.2 gig download right now. What gives with this? I thought they weren't doing new content after the last content patch last June. Why such a big download. I'm down to 3 gigs on my hard drive too. . Have to delete my older games I suppose. Anybody know what this 1.2 gig patch is for? It's going from 2.4.3 to 3.0.2. Anyone know what that is? I don't think it's the new XP. I'm sure I didn't click download for that.

My internet doesn't seem to be as fast as they advertised it for, or maybe the blizzard server is slow. But I'm only halfway done with this 1.2 gig download. So I guess my 10 free days will turn into 9 free days. And in the meantime I'll have to get this tech support problem dealt with so I can buy game time with my credit card. Not sure when I'll get the XP, but I imagine I will. I was pretty burned out on the game last June from extensive raiding, but like a true junkie, I'm ready for more.

As for my shaman's highest boss attained last June. That would be 3rd boss in hyjal, working on 4th. But we never took down the main bosses in SSC and the Eye. We skipped those. Actually we did attempt SSC boss, but couldn't get her. All that nice healing gear is worthless now . I think at the end I was over 2100 healing.

The 3.0.2 patch is huge. It contains much of the information for the XP and got many of the current players salivating for WotLK.

Edit: Link seems to be for 3.0.3 which was small by comparison, can't find 3.0.2

Some of the major ones:
Free Reset of Talents, as new talent trees available (up to 50 points per tree)
Major changes to talent trees of all classes
Achievement system
New Profession "Incriptions"
Mounts and pets no longer take up bag space
New "Glyphs" (similar to enchantments)
Many small interface changes that I can't think of after midnight
.....oh and one that Druids liked, is the ability to Rez (outside combat, no cooldown)

It also caused a lot of grief and downtime, but I suppose helped to work out the bugs before the release, which is a good thing in the long run.

btw Dis, this thread helped get me hooked on WoW, not sure whether to thank you or curse you now for starting it!

I'm still debating whether or not to go back to playing WoW. It takes up so much time but on the other hand I have nothing but time right now.

yeah I don't have much going on now. But I need to try to keep it under control and get enough sleep for work and working out in the gym. My last major session of WOW was real hard on my body. Took a while for me to get in shape for work. And after seeing guys at those jobs with diabetes, I'm trying to take steps to avoid diabetes. And one of those guys really isn't that much overweight, he just has a sedentary lifestyle which I have mostly (except for work which I stay on my feet). So I want to try to stay healthy.

And I finally finished that patch, had to delete a couple games. Firefox seems to run faster now too with more room on my HD. It was real slow even though I had 3 gigs left. I deleted Civ4 (shame on me I know) BG2, and NWN2.

At first I thought it was redownloading TBC which I already have (bought online). But I see the new opening screen has snow and stuff, so I guess it was content for the XP (which I still haven't bought, but I imagine it has to display new graphics for death knights and such on my computer).

So I finish downloading this morning after falling asleep last night downloading to get....wait for it... servers down for maintenance . This is worse than being **** teased by a stripper.

Oh well I have to get an oil change anyways. I'll be back later.
