  • st ain't bad. kind of confusing where to go. one quest has you jumping down to that pool below or something. But seems like we skip that alot of the times.

    • one thing that concerns me regarding the new XP is it might be too easy. I just hope they didn't kiddy it down for the kiddies. I know it means more subsciptions and all that. I hear they are up to 12 million. Crazy. But they are making things too easy. I know I have good gear compared to when I took my toons thru outlands. But this XP seems so much easier than outlands. Hellfire Peninsula was tough. Even if you went in at 60. But I always had greens going in there, so maybe that's why.

But I did one instance again with my raiding gear from level 70. The instance is like a 66-68 instance. And I healed it just fine. And I was only level 64 at the time. It's good that my gear didn't go obsolete too quick, but I just worry they made things too easy. And the instance has almost no trash mobs. You can probably do it in 1 hour. I know that was one complaint from before was that instances took too much time, but it just doesn't feel right to me.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want EQ type of toughness. Some of that stuff seems to be in there for masochistic reasons. Seems like they are just tough because they like to punish you.

      • It's bound to be easy early on if you have good level 70 raiding gear.

        • going for the big 80 today. Far too easy. But I have to try to catch up with guildies. They are already geared for the first raid instance.

          • Today? You are going to try to level on a Maintenance day

Far too easy isn't a bad thing to me, I have yet to buy the XP but as I level my alts (I currently have 5 toons, levels 70, 60, 58, 58, 52) I expect that probably after Christmas I will buy WotLK (I am hoping the price goes down after then ).

After playing for a year and a half, I still suck, so if it is easy for you, it may be doable for me

            • I meant to 80. Though I'm hearing the first level raid instances are easy, but we'll see. I won't say it's easy, but different. They made it so your raiding equipment didn't go bad within 5 levels. In fact, I'm still wearing alot of mine at 79.

And yes it sucks having my weekend on a maintenance day . It does allow me to do errands such as laundry. And I should clean my bathroom... But I really just want to play wow.

              • I hit 80 2 nights ago. Pretty damn fast. about a week and a half of playing. Far too easy. You'd think it would be alot harder to get to 80. I know they want more people to see end game content, but... I kinda like a system that weeds out the serious and non serious gamers. It was bad before when everyone and their mother thought they could run Kara. and some people clearly couldn't. I had one girl in our guild who wanted to run Kara so badly. but she really didn't have the skills. I think she was only buddying up to me because I was an officer and could get her into a kara run. I kinda ditched her when I moved onto a more serious raiding guild. I don't care for chicks using me anyways. Anyways our one run with her healing ended badly. couldn't get past Maiden.

                • well I kinda got steamrolled into heroics. I have yet to run a single level 80 normal dungeon. Shows the gear requirements for heroics aren't that tough. That doesn't mean heroics aren't that tough. They can be a little tough in areas. We wiped a couple times, and I died alot. Mostly my fault for getting hit with some kind of aoe damage. I'm not familiar with any of the fights as I never did the normal versions of these dungeons.

I'm a little rusty, and my gear is still a little low. I'm only about 1500 healing with earthliving weapon (I'm a shaman) on. 1300 something without it. And my mp5 is only around 200 as well. I'm told my mana pool needs to be up around 15k as well. It's only at about 13k right now. But we did well. The pally tank only had 22k health, so I had little room for error. That made things difficult. Esp. when I got caught in a global cooldown and he took a ton of damage fast. dead tank. I hate having the tank die, I feel it's my fault. Even though his damage mitigation didn't seem that great.

He wasn't the greatest tank as he took pound damage from that one spider boss in one of the heroics I did last night (the other 2 herocis I did were UK and UK pinnacle). The tank is supposed to get out of range of pound. I was able to heal through it most of the time. But it's like 16k damage all at once. We wiped once because the tank took pound damage.

Oh and my guild ran some 10 man in that winter thingy pvp area. I'm not sure what that was. Only 1 boss. Real easy stuff. I got a elemental shammy T7 from that. It's elemental, but still has good stats for healing. Better than my T5. Just doesn't have mp5 on it.

But I've been trying to take my time and do all the quests, and do dailies to build up rep. But everyone is in a hurry to get Emblems from heroics right now. And they need healers. I'm almost done with all the ques. Have about 100 left to do in Icecrown, then I'll be done. Then it's a matter of doing dailies, and running 80 norms and heroics for rep and emblems.

                  • I just got the trial version last week. Created 4 characters and brought them all up to level 12 and cleared out the first area/realm/province for each.

Interesting game, I can see the appeal. I can also see how it gets old real quick. I mostly just did SP quests, and while some are interesting they generally all end up being the same. Like that last cartoon joked about.

I got my money's worth out of the trial and satisfied my curiosity of this whole crazy WoW thing. Time to move on.

                    • I remember the trial, and while I can see what you mean about it being repetitive, you miss out on the majority of the game by only playing to level 12. Not sure you have a true picture of the world, as at level 12 you would have only seen the starting areas (as you stated) and not much else. The areas are huge, and some of the significant portions you have missed out on include instances (5 man and bigger, of which there are lots, but the first are at level 20 or so). PvP which isn't something I am interested in, but which is a major draw for others, and raids, with groups up to 25/40.

Personnally after a year and a half of playing, I am beginning to lose interest as well, but even after that year and a half, I realize that there is a significant portion of the game that I have not yet played. Perhaps it is a good thing to get out while you still can (before you have signed up).

I haven't checked it out, but I think part of what would keep me with WoW is not wanting to start over with a new game. Not about to pay for two subscriptions either, and the thought of stopping my wow subscription is too traumatic right now, not ready to break the habit just yet

worth noting the quests do get less repetitive in Northrend (the new xp). Less kill monsters for parts (yucky) or kill certain number of enemies. There are still some of those, but alot where you take control of vehicles/animals/undead etc. Though it is a bit gimmicky, and perhaps they made too many of those quests in northrend.

I can't explain why I'm addicted now. Back about 4 years ago I bought it and brought a warrior to level 10 never to play until 2 years later when I got fired. then I played again and loved it. Ironically it was the Make Love not Warcraft episode of South Park which made me want to play again. Even though the episode seems critical of that style gameplay.

The game is a good time killer. I'll say that. Sometimes without it, I get bored.

                          • thinking of giving this game up again. My internet connection has gotten bad lately. It was down all of christmas night during the windstorm.

Really laggy last night, with frequent disconnects. Made getting my dailies done a pain. Can't even think about raid healing or heroic healing like that. And so many bosses require movement to not stand in bad places. Lag makes those difficult.

My only choice is to buy a new house with better internet access. But spending $200,000 or more just to play world of warcraft seems a bity silly. Yes I know it's a good investment, but still not worth it. As houses require alot of maintenance. I could try cox cable again, but they were unable to solve the issues with my cable not working in hot temperatures.

In any case, I'm getting tired of doing dailies. I know I only have about 7 or 6 days left, but they get on my nerve. They aren't fun. I never had to do dailies in BC. Though in that case I went into Kara a bit undergeared. I was at 1100 healing when I should have been at 1200. So maybe I should have done some dailies. But there was no good gear for doing dailies back then. Not for healing. Though I'm pretty much geared for naxx now. I'm only off by like 70 healing. So I really don't have to do dailies. I'm only doing it because I like the shiny purple gear. . I like having the best gear available.

                              • well I gquit and stopped playing my shaman. I was getting so sick of dailies. Not to mention killing things slowly. And the crappy server where not enough people doing heroics and raiding. To show you how bad that server is, I"m number 49 in achievements. I was surprised I was that high. But it shows how few people raid in that server. Plust my guild leader has a girlfriend and something, so he's not around much. Women ruin everything. That guild was going nowhere fast. And I discovered something about myself. I don't like committment. I prefer just to level a character without any guild comittments. This is why I will never have a girlfriend. I simply don't like comitting. It's a huge loss of freedom.

plus my brother is playing again, so I'm playing my alliance on his server now- Alleria. It's a full server, so I can't imagine how bad doing Hodir dailies at the end would be (bad enough on Shu'halo). But that's along way off.

Right now I'm playing my paladin. I went from 40 to 45 last night. I tried playing my shadow priest at 56 (as she's much closer to 80), but I suck at priests apparantly. I was fighting these guys in the blasted lands who had high shadow resistance (at least 50%). I was getting my ass beat down. . almost every one of my mind flays was resisted. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong. Then I tried my warrior who's at 52. But I was frustrated at how long it took her to kill stuff. She's fury spec. I don't understand why it takes so long. Maybe I'll switch to using a 2 hander.

But I just went back to my paladin. I like paladins. I think them along with shaman are my favorite class. At least I don't have to worry about 50% resistance like with my shadow priest. I don't think anything in the game has holy resistance.

Oh I also tried a death knight on that server. I'm too lazy to learn the rune system I guess. . It seems really complicated. I amost lost the first fight you do when you put your rune on your sword. . I have no idea what I'm doing. I don't care for all the diseases and stuff. Not my style of fighting. I don't get why they are so popular.
