  • was trying to do the Covert ops quest last night in Stonetalon Mountains when I was half asleep. Didn't turn out to be very covert.

It's actually one of the more interesting quests I have seen so far in this game. Would have been nice if I could have done it the proper way.

You are supposed to set off the explosives and the goblins and kobolbs run to investigate the explosion, and you grab the plans in the interval. But a couple stayed back, I had to fight them. By the time I was was done fighting them, the rest came back.

I ended up just killing everyone and taking the plans. . I was several levels higher, so it wasn't a big deal taking on multiple mobs.

Most of the time you have a series of attacks that use use to initiate every combat. Say with your priest, for instance, you always shield first, then cast smite, then cast Shadow word: Pain, then mind blast. Then you would setup a macro like this:

      /cast shield
      /cast smite
      /cast Shadow Word: Pain
      /cast mind blast

Then, when you press the button, your priest would cast those spells in that order.

The commands are not right though - so don't copy what I have written here, but there are numerous guides to setting up macros on the 'net

Also a level 32 gnome mage and 22 Dwarf hunter same server.

Level 29 Orc warrior and 22 Undead Warlock on Mug'thol PvP server (My Horde server).

And I wonder why I haven't hit 70 on my Paladin yet...

                  • I'm not sure as I'm not really following BC. But I'd imagine there are two new tiers, or shortly will be.

                    • what are tier epicx?

I find I get bored of playing the same character every day. I've now moved back to my Hunter. Hunter is such a cheese class though. Because they level so fast and easy. I kill things so fast, it isn't even funny. Just put in a bid for a higher damage bow.

Got watch using too many spell shots. I tend to pull aggro. I was fighting a level 30 elite last night in thousand needles. Used too many spell shots, and pulled it. Took a while for my bear to regain aggro. Fights like that I expect to last a while. And just use normal arrows. I do this was parties as well. I do too much damage otherwise and pull aggro. On dumber enemies, they usually stick with my bear. Even when I'm blasting them with every mana using shot I have.

A lot of people have some exotic pet for their hunters. I feel kind of bland having an average brown bear. But I've become attached to it. I would never get rid of it or even put it in a stable. He'd get lonely in a stable (perhaps I have been playing too much ). I may get a cat. My first pet was an orange cat from the islands just off Duratar (the 1-10 starting area for orcs). You never see orange cats (look like tigers). I'd like to have one just to be different.

I think I might rotate. I get best XP resting bonus this way. . My Hunter flew through level 30 last night because of the resting bonus. If I rotated a different character each day, I'd level them fast. Though it would still be faster to get one character to 60 if I played them every day. But I get burned out. The only problem with rotating, is I need to familiarize myself with the hotkeys each time.

                      • Tier epics are epic armor sets that you acquire by beating the same 40 or 25 man raid instance repeatedly. Tier 1 was acquired from Molten Core.

Using that as an example, I will try to describe for you the effort it is to get a full tier set.

Assume 40 players want to get full tier 1 epics. Assume 8 pieces to an armor set. That's 320 pieces of armor that have to drop.

Now take into consideration that there are 10 bosses in Molten Core, and that they drop 1 or 2 armor pieces when killed. Also take into consideration that you can only do the instance once every week - even though it only takes an evening to beat it, once you have mastered it.

So let's say 15 drops to one week - 320 pieces to drop. That's 22 weeks of playing to equip the entire raid force.

Of course it doesn't work that way, because some players can't attend every week, and sometimes 1 armor piece just refuses to drop, so that you have to wait and wait and wait for it.

From I started raiding, it took me roughly 3 months to get full tier 1, and 5 more months after that to get full tier 2 (which you can get in Blackwing Lair). I stopped playing after that, but some of my friends are still pursuing whatever tier is fashion right now

                        • Interesting. I just can't play like that.

I never could play Diablo 2 like that either. It's why I could never compete with the top players. I refuse to put that much effort doing something over and over. I need variety (as I noted above, I can't play the same character every day).

I had a blue drop last night from a regular monster. It wasn't that great. who cares about intellect and stamina increases. . I want agility and stamina.

I pretty much use whatever drops. Right now I have on a lot of + agility gear for my hunter. All greens. No blues yet.

I'm willing to settle for an average player. I have different goals in teh game.

Because of this, I'm not sure how good I'd be on pvp. I've been kind of afraid to try. . So far I can do good against other players if I'm a higher level than them. That's about it.

                          • I have no tier, I never got into raiding.

However, I do believe that their is a new mechanic in place for tier 4 at least. The high level newer 10 man dungeons drop armor pieces that can be turned in to vendors of one of two factions in Shattrath city.

That city has two factions in it called Aldor and Scryer. You have to choose allegiance to one or the other to get the stuff they have to offer. At which point you become an enemy to the other faction.

Depending on class or playstyle, one faction is supposedly better than the other.

At that point, after you choose and turn in a drop, they are upgraded to, I think, tier 4.
Not certain on much else. I think i'm right. I "think" this is because an armor drop can perhaps be turned in to be upgraded into different pieces depending on class..i'll have to go back and check the vendors to see.

Black temple the new 25 man raid is supposed to be released with the upcoming patch. I guess that has tier 5, but not sure how it works in that case.

                            • Ugh. I've been clean for a year now, and Blizzard just offered me a ten day trial of Burning Crusade.

Of course they've already probably deleted my L60 toon so it'd be pointless anyway.
