I see. A well-thought and deep expertise. And not a bit subjective. I applaud. Thanks.

If this game is addicting, all the more reason for me not to play it. I have enough with Civ-addiction . Also, I'd never play this anyway, I am on principle opposed to games that have a subscription cost.

There is a difference between addictive and fun. EQ is addictive, WoW is fun and a bit addictive.

Did you play EQ Asher? Or where do you get your information from?

WoW is actually more addictive, because your goals are always closer and there's more of them. It's also a great deal more fun because of it, as you suggest.

And by calling EQ addictive (which it certainly was) you admit that whilst you might consider it a 'terrible game' many did not and loved it.

In any case, without EQ there would be no WoW.

Yeah, a sledgehammer approach to the gear gap problem. Can't say I like it (though fortunately I stopped at tier 1 ) but I suppose it's the price to pay for having a wider playerbase. If I were Blizzard I'd have done the same.

I doubt that, EQ was not the first MMORPG.

Asheron's Call (1) was a much better MMORPG at the time and did pretty well as well.

If that was to me I'd tend to agree, but it has nothing to do with the point I made that without EQ there would be no WoW. WoW owes way more to EQ than AC.

You certainly don't want to talk logic and reason with a troll, do you? Asher doesn't know **** about EQ, look how he dodges every question about it. His arguments are "because it sucks", and "because it's not fun". You can't really keep a coherent conversation under such circumstances, so you better don't try it.

In any case, without EQ there would be no WoW.
This is debatable, but right in principle, if you substitute EQ with "early MMOGs".

That's what cheapskates say who don't want to appear to be cheapskates. There is no 'principle' on which any sane person could avoid paying. The only question is do you get your £10 worth per month? Since this is:

                          1) 3 pints (I live in London), not even 1 round!
                          2) 3 sandwiches, not even a week's lunch
                          3) Slightly less than 2 tickets to the cinema, which gives you 2x120 mins of enjoyment if it is a good film
                          4) Slightly less than the price of 2 books. Maybe 3 magazines.
                          5) I'm sure lots of other examples

......I am forced to conclude it is.

What is there to know about EQ aside from it's a grindfest and unfun to the extreme?

The only people who liked it were losers who had nothing else in their life, and could actually accomplish something few could by dedicating their life to EQ. It's sad.

Good job, adding ad hominems to the mix. But I have to disappoint you, it doesn't add to your troll credits. Too obvious.

EDIT: That was a response to Asher. You're too quick, Spikey
