Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
I checked out my local micro center, which has a nice big newly rearranged games section, including lots of PC games (but no bargain bin - though they have whats rare, a PC with a game loaded to check out - its some kind of FPS involving a contemporary war with China)
They had SImcity 4 for $20. They had Simmmania 3 pack for $20. Now aside from Simcity 3000, all simmania has is Simcopter (already have) Simsafari (a kids game that POTM isnt interested in) simgolf (yawn) and a couple of simcoaster-theme park games. So effectively simcity3000 would be almost as costly as sc4. OTOH, maybe i can find SC3000 used on the net.

Is that bug of significant issue to you?
Well yeah, I try to make games as challenging as possible and this bug nullifies that.

SimGolf was surprisingly popular - you might like it.
I presume it was popular among folks who actually had an interest in golf, though.

Hmm, not sure about that. Was it funfair addicts that bought Theme Park, or Rollercoaster Tycoon? Was it environmentalists that bought SimIsle etc? (actually no one bought SimIsle but that's another story. )

well I bought RCT, and I do find roller coasters interesting, though im not a huge fan of riding them. I like Simcity cause im interested in cities and urban planning, and bought a flight sim cause i find flying interesting, even though im not about to spend on RL flight lessons.
I got simisle as part of simmania 2, unfortunately i never got it to work. I certainly was interested in enviro stuff (I still think an update to simearth would be incredibly timely these days)

Ever heard of Spore?
Ah, the SimEarth days... Great game, if a little unstable.

Nulifies? That seems a little bit reaching, unless you play in very short segments of time. Of course, there are ways to make the game even more challanging then that. Try seeing how good of an education system you can get on 0% taxes.

I'm not interested in golf, but that SimGolf kept me interested for a few weeks. Had there been MP I would have played the game for more than just a few weeks...

is spore really gonna incorporate simearth dynamics - my impression (entirely based on what i read here) is that it will be all about designing your little creatures, and fiddling with them. Simearth had a full (if simplistic) climate-vegetation-etc model. Perfect for playing with global warming type scenarios, etc (if only the manual had explained the interface, instead of the science) Id be very interested if you could do that with Spore.
