  • Simcity3000 vs Simcity4

Simcity 4 is now widely available of $20 US. And we now have a PC that will run it. I very much enjoyed Simcity2000, it was my intro to PC gaming.

Is there any reason to get Simcity 3000, or should I just skip it and move straight to Simcity4?

SimCity 4 is a resource hog. Even on my really quite good computer, it's not the fastest thing in the world... so be wary of it Modded it's okay, better than 3000 probably, anyway. 2000 is still better

Have you considered the option to play neither?

Yes, the Sims is much more enjoyable.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

SimCity 4 is better than SimCity 3000, but requires a good computer to run smoothly...

Make sure to mod the game though (check out www.simtropolis.com for great mods for the game)

Its true i haven't been here long, but i have heard of this Dr.Spike + the Sims relationship - its a joke thing right?

As for which SimCity - i didnt like the graphical switch made in SimCity4, the switch to 3D just often doesn't work in games that require a decent level of strategic control(think Empire Earth), so i didnt get it.

Of SimCity2000+SimCity3000, probably 2000 is the more serious sim? but for me it was quite important i could get a uk version, so i prefer 'SimCity3000 deluxe uk version' - the graphics are better than 2000 also.
Get both as they are cheap(or were when i got them)

So, when will MarkG include a feature that makes it impossible for DrSpike to post in threads with SimWhatever in the title?

It's far from a joke. The Sims represents almost every unfavourable trend in the gaming industry, and must be mocked at all possible occasions.

Don't you have free speech in your country?

Free speech? Nope, never heard of it

It's just very tiring to hear you say the same thing over and over. Whenever I see a thread about SimsWhatever, I know what your posts in that thread would be about

I know what yours will be too. Doesn't mean I'll try and stop you from arguing your view.

If your computer can handle it, skip straight to Simcity 4. The expansion pack is also adds quite a bit to the game, and make sure to get the Transportation Mod from Simtropolis. I've forgoten the exact name of it, but it makes some very nice changes to the game.
I make movies. Come check 'em out.

actually we're planning to get that. I asked POTM if we shouldnt just get the complete collection, the game plus all 7 xpacks for $60, but she said she didnt think shed ever want all the Xpacks, so we will probably just get the Sims Deluxe, which is the game, one xpack, and some extra material, for $20.
