Paddy the Scot (second from the left) outlines his plan of attack.
As a general rule, it can be said that the Austral Hordes concern themselves only with conquest and destruction. They care little for the building of worlds. Why bother, their thinking goes, when their prey is so good at building worlds for them?
This is not to say that individual Hordlings are not guided by their own personal motivations from time to time, but they tend to be able to fit their own goals in with those of the collective. This round stands as a case in point.
Despite the unprecedented expansion of the Hordes in the opening round, Paddy the Scot was enraged that anyone would dare stand in the way of the coming Austral Age. His thirst for revenge could only be quenched with the blood of Whoha. The other members of the Hordes were only too happy to oblige...
Two general skills are needed to become Galactic Overlord. One is the ability to sense the ebb and flow of galactic relations. It is crucial for one's survival to know when to press the attack and when to hide behind a shield. It also helps to know who is likely to attack whom and when those attacks are likely to occur. The other involves knowing what to do when that attack comes.
In the last round, Whoha showed a mastery of strategy by seizing undefended Austral bases. This round, not so much. It didn't take a strategic genius to see that he would be a target for Hordly retribution. His survival, then, depended solely on his tactical skills.
James, Rubychaser, and tism had added to their already substantial joint fleet and were ready to put Whoha's skills to the test.
James, Rubychaser and tism's identical fleets of a combined 18 Fighter Battleships, 3 Fighter Cruisers and 12 Torpedo Battleships face Whoha's 17 Laser Cruisers.
As the fleets came together, observers noticed Whoha's bizarre tactical decision to bunch his all-laser fleet together. Surely the maneuvered torpedoes of the Hordes would soon make short work of him!
They probably put F though. Fighters are more numerous in their fleet and they were probably counting on Whoha spreading his fleet. But we all know it's a strange decision since fighters and torpedoes perform the same against a spread-out all-laser fleet, whereas bunched all-laser fleet hurts fighters greatly, so it's always best to put torpedoes first.
