But this was not the only battle of the opening round. Not by a long shot.

There's a Party at Snoopy's Place!

Of all the would-be overlords, one stood head and shoulders above the others as the target of the conspiracy theorists' wrath. snoopy369, it was whispered, was responsible for the downfall of the Empire. "He colluded with teh Eventois!" they whispered. "He betrayed the ideals of the Empire!" they cried.

For his part, snoopy dismissed the criticism. Surely any rational overlord could see that the allegations were patently false! Just to be certain, he consulted his spreadsheets. After several days of painstaking calculations, he concluded that there was only a 7.34% chance of an attack on his holdings. As a result, he embarked on a builder's strategy and set some production aside for the construction of a new starbase. Always the prudent overlord, however, he also started construction on an all-laser fleet.

Just as well he did. Although his calculations were off, his prudence was not: An armada of tiny ships belonging to Hercules dropped out of warp in the middle of snoopy's home system!

Hercules's 21 Laser Frigates face snoopy369's 4 Laser Battleships and 2 Laser Frigates.

snoopy's only hope was that the Order of Battle provided by his spreadsheets could counter the numerical advantage of his attacker. The opening moves did not look promising.

The Hordes Crash the Party

Hercules was feeling quite proud of himself. Not only had he deflected notice from his secret Eventsian shame by vanquishing snoopy, he had done so without so much as damaging a single ship. He was all set to kick back and enjoy the sweet, sweet fruits of his victory when long-range sensors picked up the approach of the combined fleets of Blondie and Paddy the Scot.

Paddy the Scot's 37 Fighter Frigates and Blondie's 13 Torpedo Cruisers face Hercules's 21 Laser Frigates.
