  • You can't use the temples when your Infamy is higher than your Fame score. To restore lost attributes at that point you need a potion, a scroll, or the ability to cast the spell.

      Spoiler:

Travel along the road to Kvatch at dusk. Near a Fort (which will be marked for you if you get close, but off the road), you might see a beacon of light shining down from heaven off to your left at one point. The column of light is visible from a pretty fair distance. If you investigate, you will find an altar draped in what looks to be a royal banner of some kind.

I have no idea what significance this plays in the game, as there was nothing there when I made the discovery. But maybe it will come into play down the road.

At any rate, it was incredibly cool to see!
Well, here it is more than a week after you posted this, but I found out what significance it is. That's part of the Mage's Guild quest line. If you've done those quests, remember the altar outside of Dark Fissure? The note that leads you there mentions four sites: Dark Fissure, Fort Istirius, Fort Linchal, and Wendelbek. That's Fort Istirius you found.

      • Re: vampirism cure. I saw an official forum post saying that someone got 7k out of it. It might indeed be scaling.

        • So I start a new game as Solver killed my other guy.

I felt the need to try and pick pocket one of the guards right away and to my surprise I actually got what I was after:

The deed didn't go completly unoticed however and one of the guards hit me, luckily they were somewhat busy with the first wave of priests so I slunk back and hid until they left.

Everything was fine until I rejoined the Emperor and his guards who hadn't forgotten that I 'borrowed' some potions. I spoke with the king and decided it would be best to take 'The Shadow' as my birth sign right then seeing as the guards wanted to kill me. They hit me again as I ran off then used my new power to become invisible.

What I didn't expect was the Emperor didn't like them beating on me so he started wailing on his own guards.

Not even out of the sewers yet and the guards are trying to kill me.

I wonder if I'll be able to make it without them killing me. Probably not.

          • So, is Uriel kickass enough to kill his guards?

            • He can kill Glenroy, who's meant to die in the sewers anyway. Problem is, he can't really kill Baurus, and of course neither can Baurus kill him. Should make up for an interesting, and looong fight.

              • Baurus would never accept my yields to him, Uriel and sometimes Glenroy would beat on him but of course they can't kill him.

Given there are doors that only Glenroy can open and he is too busy either chaseing me or Baurus I couldn't never finish the sewers without either dying or sitting in a stale mate between the three of them.

                • This game isn't as engaging as I thought. I'm already starting to lose interest.

                    • When Gal Civ update 1.1 comes out I may take an Oblivion break as well. Maybe I'll even fire up Civ 4 for the first time in months.

But the great outdoors and camping season is almost here so I'll be forced into a break soon enough.

                      • Taking an "outdoors" break .

                        Taking a Civ break .

I'm taking a break myself because I don't want to oversaturate myself with Oblivion, ~60 hours of gameplay for my first session was great, and also because of Warlords and the ever-existing desire for better hardware .

                        • Of course going camping with the laptop with Gal Civ 2 on it....priceless.

Seriously though I actually do enjoy camping and getting away from all the technology. 8 hours a day on a computer plus who know how many hours a week playing games tends to wear on me after a while. It's pretty refreshing to go camping for a weekend and ride the bike for 50 miles or so and leave it all behind.

                              • Within one city, maybe. But the buildings in Imperial City and, say, Bruma won't look similar at all.
