Fallout Tactics, and coming home discovering it was the French version.
Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

        And for the ultimate answer.

Civ2. Because of this game I've wasted countless hours playing civ games and posting here.

Every single console game i've bought(around +60 - mostly on xbox, but a few on GC as well) except 6.
On PC not that many, as i mostly stick to the classics.......these few stick out of the many:

              1.Two Thrones(unfinished paradox game)
              2.X-Gold(elite its not)
3.Settlers3(the begining of the fall of the series)
4.Giants Citizen Kabuto(still dont know why i bought this?)
              5. Amiga classix selection+emu(when i could have got it all for free)

I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Why would you buy a game, you haven't tested on your computer to see if it runs it?

                      Quite.

And if your machine is close to the specs they originally announced (as they must have been) then Adagio's point is even more true.

It just makes it more satisfying when you actually do beat that level .

Hm, The Sims - I played it for half an hour and that was it.

But then I made the stupid mistake of buying both The Sims 2 and its first expansion pack. I don't even have to say that I played The Sims 2 for an hour and never even installed the expansion.

Age of Mythology - it is not a bad game at all, at least not for those who like RTS games. I'm just not one of them.

Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness - horrible crap. It had an interesting story, but it was so painful to go through the levels that I quitted before the end.

F1 Championship Season 2000 - the EA F1 sims were never really as good as the old Grand Prix series. I couldn't even finish a single lap without wrecking my car.
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

The download was going to take a week at least.
And my machine was good, except for the graphics card. Funnily enough, the most important bit where Oblivion was concerned.

You could say that buying The Sims 2 was the triumph of expectation over experience.
