CivCity probably uses some of the Stronghold engine so it wasn't too difficult to make up to that level.

Firaxis has pretty much two development teams though. For this reason, there is most likely a 4th game that hasn't been announced yet.
Actually, Railroads is entirely a Firaxis product.

I got mixed feelings about it. Sure, PopTop wasn't able to make RailRoad Tycoon 2 + 3 any fun, but on the other hand, since it's Firaxis who did it, then they have no excuse for not listening to their own poll, on what gamers wanted, as only very few (not sure exactly how many voted in their poll) voted for a sequel to RailRoad Tycoon
This space is empty... or is it?

Yes, but I was one of those 5 voters, so I'm happy with the decision

                    So it's all your fault?

No, only 20% of it is his fault.

Good. I thought Sid wouldn't want the PopTop bunch to get near the game that really launched him after RT2 and 3.

Since this is a discussion about Railroads and not Colonization 2, I'll add my irrelevant opinion.

Original Railroad Tycoon from Sid back in days of yore was a masterpiece. I played for way too many hours.

Railroad Tycoon 2 sucked. Vacuum is less sucky than this game.

Railroad Tycoon 3. Most likely sucked too since the same crew as number 2. Fortunately I didn't waste money buying it.

This rant has been brought to you so you don't have to come and get it.

Btw, if the remake of Pirates is a anything to go by, I expect Railroads! will be a great game.

I have no idea why. Most of the original game was still there and they added some financial market stuff. Nevertheless, there was no magic to the mixture IMO. The fun factor was, uh, not there.

Perhaps PopTop had managed to took the critical pieces from the game.

Leaders are a great part too of course. Along with the story. I wonder what Mike Ely is up to these days. I don't think he is the same one who made the terror alert level extension for Firefox but who knows.

Really? 12? I thought it was just 6. Still, workable.
