I picked it up after work today. I've been playing it for the past couple of hours on the 360 on my plasma tv. Playing my usual Breton/Apprentice/CustonClass. So far, I am somewhat impressed. The character is guided through a tutorial by a character whose voice is performed by a well-known actor. Kind of still miss the Morrowind graphics. Maybe thats cause I put so much time into that game. I do like the combat better in Oblivion.

WOOT! I got it! I even got the Collectors Edition . The guy at EB said it was reserved. But then said, you know, if we run out the store down the road has a ton of them and gave it to me .

        I'll be away for a while .

I got it! Wasn't sure but all the hype convinced me. I played for a little bit and am pretty impressed. I never could get into Morrowind and things seem a bit more polished. I haven't got much farther than killing rats but all seems good.

I haven't messed with the vid settings much. I'm in the medium category and it looks good.

Downloading 4.5 GB isn't a problem, but the thing says I'm not in a country that can download the game. Bummer.

Then again, it should be available on Friday anyway.

                      WOW!

I'm playing with everything ramped up. I'm not sure what HDR Lighting is... but with it I can't use Anti-Aliasing. I wonder if I should turn off HDR and instead use Bloom and 4X AA? Maybe I'll try it out.

The faces of the NPCs are excellent, the grass & water effects are excellent. The game just looks like a million bucks on 1280*1024 resolution.

Very smooth, very great looking. I got past the beginning bits, and am now exploring the Imperial City (even though my quest should take me to another city somewhere else... in the great TES tradition, I'm ignoring it ).

My computer chugs along with it, so my graphics are all the way down, but it's still way more fun than anything else I've played in a while.

So far (I've only played a couple hours) it seems to have fixed a lot of what was wrong in Morrowind, like the combat and talking and such.
                        John Brown did nothing wrong.

                          HDR means High Dynamic Range.

You could think of it as "Natural Light"; it makes objects look real under the suns light.

Yeah, it makes things really look nice. I wonder if taking it off and putting AA on would make things look better, but I'm not sure it would.

If Asher was here, he would say you should get the 360 because it has both AA and HDR on by default.
