Yeah, and at my EB, they didn't have any 360s .

Also, I believe the new ATI's have the ability to have both active.

For proper HDR, you would need the GF 7 series cards. (I'm not sure about ATi, I don't follow them much).

However, I am not sure Oblivion even uses proper HDR; as HDR can be emulated to some effect; one example is NFS:Most Wanted.

If Asher were here, he would probably say get the PC version as it is very flexible. If you open the ini file, you can turn things on that you cannot on the Xbox. Currently, only two object types in the game are reflected in the water, but in the ini file you can set everything to reflect in the water.

You can probably also turn on AA and HDR in the ini file aswell.

HDR can be processing intensive, this may be why they set it AA to turn off when HDR is on, but I have a strong feeling Bethseda had a graphics glitch problem when both were turned on.

The best option I can think of, is to turn HDR on and use the highest resolution, in an attempt to make the jagged edges too small to see.

Try opening the ini file and see if you can set both on.

        I think it's Oblivion.ini

Oh and if you succeed, can you post a screenshot? preferably outside.

Can you tell me if there are deserts, great plains, stuff like that? I have not seen one screenshot with just great plains or a desert.

I have a 7800 GT. I think you can't have both on is because everything except the best ATI card doesn't have enough pipelines to run them together (at least that's what I've heard).

Yeah, I got the highest res on. I'm just going to play around for a bit. I'm sure I'll just do the HDR, but hell, why not play around the options? I'm just exploring the Imperial City anyway.

I believe the new ATI X1900 XTX cards beat out NVidia's 7800 GTX.

Though I'm not sure if the 7900 GTX that just came out steals the crown back.

I just had a look at the map (I don't know much about TES games at all), and I see now they have focused on one part of the world for Oblivion.

I guess this means, the other sections of the world will come to us in the form of expansions?

They pretty much only used the island of Vvardenfell for Morrowind. I've only played these two, but it seems like they pick a region and add depth rather than just area. Although the area is huge too.
                        John Brown did nothing wrong.

                        • Each TES game in theory focusses on one area. Arena was the exception to that rule (TES 1); Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion each focus on a small portion of the world. (Even Arena focussed in some ways, though it had more breadth of travel than the other three.)

                          • BTW, I'm giving D2D a shot. I strongly support having games be downloadable, so I'm voting with my pocketbook Also, it'll be nice to leave my Madden and Civ4 CDs in the drives and not have to worry about juggling them for Oblivion ...
