It's not the same. You clearly guessed my word, while Fishsticks also clearly guessed my word, not snoopy's.

I'd say let Snoopy render the final verdict, since the rest of us disagree. I'm perfectly willing to say my guess, coming after Snoopy's blanks were posted, counts for Snoopy's word, in which case it'd be _ _ _ _ _, 9 guesses to go, I'm out, and the floor opens for letter guesses when Snoopy verifies that "abode" was not correct.

/me does some quick internet research for the longest set of "Hangman" Rules and finds out it is on a site called........"Apolyton".

Anyone heard of it?
(this could start another lengthy discussion on the origins of the word apolyton and whether a Greek word would be acceptable as a word).

I'll watch for this latest "discussion" to conclude and hopefully will be able to post a guess.......I'm thinking next week sometime

That's BS. You can't follow a "strict interpretation" for one person and not for another. Yes, he intended to guess the other word, BUT TOO FRICKING BAD.

I'd have made the same call on your guess, Joncha, but Ljube made a different call as GM ... I make the call myself on this one, as I'm now GM for this word.

We don't go by GM call in Hangman, we go by the rules. Either they apply or they don't, you can't cherry pick based on your interpretation of the player's intentions.

Thanks btw, fishsticks, I appreciate the effort. The underlying point needs to be addressed one way or the other, though.

I disagree. There is nothing wrong with making a decision based on clear intentions. Fishsticks was not guessing at my word, he was clearly guessing at Ljube's word, so it wasn't a guess.

Look, this isn't the supreme court. It's a fun game. Therefore I prefer to pretend that we're here to have fun, and not to argue over rules constantly. There should be rules to define a fun playground, but there's no reason to be a donkey about them either.

You can disagree all you like, but the word setter does not have the ability to veto rules.

There is no point in having rules if they are not followed, and it's even worse if they are applied selectively.

Now, either we set aside the rules, and the word is mine, or we follow them and the word is yours and fishstick's guess counts. Anything else is blatantly unfair.
