I got the pictures, Grats on Vael.
The biggest challenge to a guild isn't killing stuff, it's getting at least 40 people to sit at their computers and stop crying / going AFK for 24 hours a week so you can learn to pwninate.

      Enigma_Nova, a sugestion.

Minimum age requirement - 25. While some younger people do fake their way in, the immature ones tend to get kicked out fairly readily.

I've been with them. They're a bunch of ****ing newbies who can't co-ordinate ****, and think themselves to be 'better' just because they're 25 and over.
The truth is that they're just as likely to be immature, stupid and unskilled - and more likely to be self-righteous.

Their ONLY requirement is 25 and over, and like I've said - if you make a group where idiots can join, then they will, and in large quantities.

/Yes, I know I'm extra self-righteous. It's the flaw I took to have character points left over for "Knows what the **** he's doing"

Great if things don't go wrong
Good if the same thing doesn't go wrong twice
Bad if someone does something really stupid
Worse if more than one person does something stupid, or there are guildies/friends involved

I spout orders as often as I spout criticism - this happens to be often.
I will waste no time removing someone from my party if they are not up to my standards of play.
Consequently, of the 20% of my groups that make it to the first boss, I am going to be intermittently interrupted reporting whiners to the GMs (I have "Shut up or I'll report you, I'm actually paying attention to my group" macroed).

I am always the leader, because there is at least a 95% chance of someone in the group being too lazy, stupid, newb, whiny, ignorant or AFK for my tastes, and it makes no sense to go to the instance and leave because some idiot doesn't know how to play.

If you are not lazy, stupid, newb, whiny, ignorant or AFK (nor do you sympathise with any of these miscreants), then there's a good chance we'll get along well. Otherwise I'll spam my "I hate grouping with idiots" macro and boot.

Here are some things I demand from my team:
            1. English literacy. I don't mind abbreviations, all lowercase or lack of full-stops - but if you cannot communicate effectively, and cannot read orders quickly, then you are no use to me. Lack of punctuation or confusing words of similar sound gets an instant boot - go back to the slums if you lack an education.
            2. Awareness. Party chat contains useful information, such as "oom", "inc", "cced %t", "focus fire %t", "ae", "out of los" and other such details that you should be aware of in a fight. If you miss an important order (e.g. Repoly, Heal MT, Lose Aggro) more than once, or if you don't notice something that was stated (a mob I rooted behind a wall, for instance, would be met with "%t rooted out of los"), then I boot you. Go back to Burger King if you don't want to pay attention.
            3. Responsiveness. When I give an order, your two options are Do it and Do something else that works. 'Sit on your ass and complain' is not a viable option to "Freeze Trap" or "Rebless". If you want to play without following orders, then stay the hell out of parties and go back to soloing.
            4. Memory. I don't expect you to remember everything, but if I have stated 3 times in the run that "Opening the chest triggers mobs, don't open it when we're in combat", or "Roots only works if you step away from the mob", or "First priority is chain-shackling" and you haven't gotten it, then I will boot you. Go back to the trailer park if you don't want to learn anything.
            5. Attitude. I don't care if you hate me and everything I stand for, but it you hate following plans, whine and beg, or don't like being thought of as a meatbag with combat skills, then go back to Real Life and get out of my party. This is an organised game.
            6. Friendship. I don't give a crap about who's whose guildie and who you respect. If you support idiots, then I'll just dislike you as well. If you bring 'friendships' up, I will slap you back into line by reminding you that this is a GAME and your real friends are those that retract their pinkies and put the tea cups down and PLAY.
            7. Loot. Negotiate what you want beforehand, otherwise we're going Need/Greed rolls. If you take a BoE as "Needing the gold", then I'm going to ask you what the sell price is, and what you're going to buy, and if you can't answer, then I'm going to have the need to kick your ass out of the party for being greedy and thoughtless. If you whine repeatedly about loot that has already been assigned, then you will be slapped into line. Whining beforehand is called Negotiating. Whining afterhand is being a pain.
            8. Knowledge. There's a list of common abbreviations, plans, skills and stuff I expect you to know if you've actually levelled that character to 40 by yourself. If you don't know, I'm not going to teach you - I'll replace you with someone that actually has a clue.
            9. Class. The classes in the game are as such:
              Druid: Hybrid Healer/Tank
              Warrior: Tank, Tank/Damage at 60 and non-protection
              Rogue: Damage
              Priest: Healer, Healer/Damage if Shadow
              Paladin: Tank/Healer
              Mage: Damage/Waterfountain
              Warlock: Damage/Utility
              Shaman: Healer/Damage
              Hunter: Damage
and all classes have some utility skills that should be mastered:
A Warrior's Aggro Skills and Rage management,
              A Rogue's Poisons, Stuns, Sap and De-aggro,
              A Priest's Shackles and Dispel,
A Paladin's Seals, Judgements, Blessings and Cleanses,
A Mage's Polymorph, Damp/Amp Magic, Counterspell and Countercurse
A Warlock's Soulstones and Pets (Buff Pet, Tank Pet, Seduce pet, Anti-mage Pet) and Banish
              A Shaman's Totems and Purge,
              A Hunter's Traps, Pets and De-Aggro
and a Druid has Tank/Healer/Minor DPS forms they can switch between as well as having Roots, Decurse, Depoison and Hibernate.

Hybrids (Druid, Pally, Shaman and Warriors with Shield or 2-H) will be informed what type of gear they should bring, or if they should bring both. If you don't have the gear, get out of the party and go do some quests (or to the auction house) and get some.
If you haven't mastered the fact that your class can press more than 2 buttons in combat, get the hell out of this game and go back to counter-strike.
            10. Lazy and AFK. If through inaction you slow the run down, I will slap you for being irresponsible and invite someone who is.
            11. Level, Skill, and Self-Worth. As the group leader, I am the judge of whether you are good enough to group with me, not you. Take your ****ing baby bottle and go elsewhere if you want to be emo about it - this is my ship, my crew, and if I don't want my crew to contain a whiny, underlevelled n00b then that's just TOO BAD for you.
If you understand that being level 40 in Zul'Farrak is not a good idea and aren't offended when I take the level 46 instead, don't mind this paragraph - Lowbies level, Idiots are always stupid.
            12. Unprepared. If an event requires preparation, such as bringing consumables, installing an add-on or having a computer that was made after the year 1985 and you are not prepared, I will boot you for someone who is.

Basically, if you're a good player who is literate (in English, not Chinese) then you should have no problems -
save for the long waiting-for-group times because I'm not going to fill the group with idiots.

There are also things like CTraid and Decursive and Teamspeak to make runs more efficient and/or easy.
Aside from that, you can read the tactics to get an idea of what people do, and go on one. Basically all it needs is 8 hours and a willingness to learn.

It certainly looks interesting though. I just wouldn't want to be with a group/guild that are TOO into the game to the point where they are a-holes to lesser players.
Well if you find a guild like that, let me know. Most of the guilds I know are a bunch of n00b-friendly n00bs (who, not surprisingly, are always hostile to me).

Sometimes it is hard to find anyone for help with a common quest that I wish there was an option to hire ai help.
Make it auto-follow you and use (say) 4 skills that basically make up the class, that it automatically uses.
I'd find that very useful for the outdoor elites.

Using High-Threat moves and wearing armor so monsters are pissed off at you, but don't do much damage.
Proper tanking is pissing off every mob that your group is fighting (or at least all the non-trivial ones) so that everyone can heal you, and take down each enemy in succession.
Bad tanking is forgetting to piss off a couple of mobs, not using high-threat moves, having low armor, or having a pack of n00bs that can't focus fire on one mob so there's no way you can keep aggro off all of them. (In this case, just make sure the mobs don't go for your healers and let those who over-aggro learn their lesson)

Tanking is important in places such as The Deadmines, which you will head to within 8 levels.

you're right, most quests are doable by themselves so far (except the harvest watchers.. I may have attempted too early),
If it's level 4+ and you're a paladin you can beat it. Take 'em on one-by-one, pull 'em somewhere that adds won't show up, and heal yourself while you beat it down.
Use whatever Seal and Judgement gives you damage.

EN - if you ever play GW let me know. I'm curious if I live up to your standards.

I could be wrong but I might won't like you that much but as long the missions/quests get done I'm down with that.

The worst kind of player is someone like EN but who doesn't know his **** from his food so to speak. Bossy players that don't have a clue I can't stand.

I only group within guild anyway really, we're doing alright (Broodlord down in BWL).

You need to be a guild leader then . People flock to guilds led by a major jerk. Not that I understand WHY.

And the cool thing is when the guild violently implodes .

Altough you might have a bit too much respect for actual skill...

                        On Tanking:
Tanking (for warriors) involves hitting monsters (oops, I mean, only one monster, hey, you have teammates for a reason right?) and whining when the healer doesn't heal you because they keep dying, because they like suck. It especially involves *****ing at any druid who shifts into bear form (becuz they are meant to be like healing right?), and then ***** at the shaman/paladin when they heal the druid instead of you. Then send angry whispers at your ex-partymates when they boot you. Then reroll a rogue .

Or maybe it's best to not learn by observing what 95% of the players do...

I could tank better with my mage than most warriors could. Tanking is actually first and foremost about keeping agro off the healer - healers do very little healing when they are busily being pumelled. As such on my Rogue and Mage I wouldn't be at all hesitant to snag any monsters that the warrior refuses too (mind, i do so gently enough that the warrior can get the agro if they decide to :P). It didn't matter what class I was playing, if my tank wouldn't tank, I'd tank instead!
Tanking, it's a mindset man, you want the monsters, you want them all hating on you, you want them all to kill you. Tanking is engaging in suicidal behaivour and relying on your healer-dude to prevent your suicide. And you love your healer, you love your healer more than anything else in the whole world, other than beating anything that dares touch your healer into a bloody pulp. THAT is being a tank.

Ha! There's so much wrong with Enigma_Nova's long ass post it's mind boggling.

WoW is a social game. I think you've completely missed that point. Acting like a dictator and telling everyone what to do all the time is a surefire way to get the word out that you're an ass.

If you can't handle grouping with people who are bad at the game then don't. I haven't done anything in a pickup group since like May because there's no reason.

If you expect to have people coordinate well and play well with any kind of consistancy you need a guild. If you're having trouble finding the right one for you it sounds like the problem isn't with noob friendly guilds but with you. See my first point. WoW is a social game. If you can't establish relationships with other players you're not gonna get anywhere at level 60.
