I should be able to build my colony ship in about 10-12 hours if all goes to plan. I wonder where I should colonize, maybe just a planet in the same system...
My defenses are up to 10 missiles /2 small lasers.
edit: The really nice thing is both position 4 and 5 planets are available in my system.

apparently locations 4, 5 and 6 are popular. (that is distance from the sun)
whether to settle in your own system is being debated on the forums, and apparently not advantageous.
edit: well go for them I think (I've seen plenty 'doubles' in systems)
My planet in uni 3 is in a system with 6 inactives. I have 2 light fighters and 6 small cargo ships split into two fleets. They just got back home.

I take that back, there is one more inactive making 7 total. I now have enough to build the colony ship. We'll know more about that in about 4-5 hours (2 hour build time, but I have some thing to take care of).

Considering the missions are taking about 2.5-3 hours, and I need sleep, I can put 3 sets of 2 planets in the rotation. When I'm ready for the next set, a quick scan of the nearby systems show lots of Ii....if you know what I mean.
Now me planet in uni 8 is a different story. 1st I have to share the system with Tuber, and the surrounding systems look tough too.

watch out for bashing though. But with 7 planets to pick from, that should be no problem
Whoops, planet 9 disappeared, and one other is a noob. I sent my colony ship to the empty slot. We'll know in an hour what the deal with colony ships be.
Almost forgot to go another level in comp tech so I'd have the slot for my colony ship, luckily I remembered or I'd still be waiting...or having one less raid this evening.
