It is "Doyen", the masculine (and harder to guess) form of "Doyenne", which is one (of many) words for a leader (eldest member) of a clan. Used occasionally in fantasy novels, where I ran into it.

Surely it doesn't matter what we discussed changing the rules to if we didn't? Following the rules to the letter requires counting Drogue's guess. Selective ignoring of the rules is therefore happening again.

Of course, given the circumstances, it is entirable reasonable to do so, and not in Snoopy's interest as well. It is also a moot point given the word was not guessed anyway. He was over-ruling the rules with common sense as a ruleset (outside of professional games) will not cover every eventuality. Not an unreasonable approach imo.

However, this leads to a situation where some people can selectively enforce rules on other players when they want to and not otherwise. Ergo, Snoopy should have to accept the guess. That's the rules right? All those players who back up their argument by saying yeah it's not perfectly fair but we must follow the rules should now agree.

But I suspect they wont.

Doc, some things are logical and need not be listed in the rules. If you insist though, we can include them too in the next revision. I will always be strongly behind the observance of the 24 hour time limit.

I believe the 24 hours starts from the time when an update is possible. In this case (based on Spike's guess) snoopy has another 4 hours or so.

If the wording of the rule is vague (or if people disagree), we can always change it.
