  • There's more to it than that. There are at least 2 distinct issues: one the supply and demand framework has never really worked well because they place restrictions on it that stop it working naturally. Two they obviously screwed something up in the last update regarding drops or the way the merchants respond, since it has got much much worse.

In fact they have hotfixed (fixed in inverted commas) part of the second, as all the minor runes with a buy price of 7K had a sell price of 5K on Friday night. Now they pay 25g.

We are still waiting for whatever changed to be fixed more rationally.

    • Eh? Why do people keep telling me Thunderhead Keep is impossible? Or did we just get lucky? We had three humans and the rest were henchies, we cleared the mission with relative ease (although with a few "Oh my" spots), and the only death we had was a henchie. I guess three humans + henchies pwns your run-of-the-mill PUG with the usual suspects, that is, asshats who go and light the fscking storm beacons when you just want to get to the Ring of Fire.

Is it normal to have a 0.5 sec delay on Teamspeak? Not to say I mind when I hear a scream for healing from a person who has just been administered a Shield of Regeneration.

      • Rumour has it they made it easier in the last update, along with other tough missions.

        • Okay, I'll jot that down under "got lucky". That sounds right though, the trickle of a few Mursaat Eles and a Jade Bow or Armour here and there was certainly not the continuous stream of hellspawn demons I've heard of. That, and Ironhammer didn't try to tank at the fort, when he got astray from the balcony up high he actually walked back there out of his own volition and stayed there for the rest of the mission.

          • It's a shame if they made it easier - getting through the tough missions is one of the most fun parts of PvE.

            • Thunderhead was a load of fun ... doing it about 3 times mind you ... but definitely the most fun PvE i've had the whole game. Far more so than Fissure/UW tbh, that part gets boring after a while ...

                • Favour today! W00t!

Our three-man crew tried to go by itself to UW. Pwned.

Then we put together a PUG with heaps of W/Mos (are there anything else but W/Mos out there? FFS!). Pwned.

Then we decided to try Fissure. Not pwned! In fact, after a few aborted attempts, we got together a very good group that managed to do the first quest the spirit gives you, and was one banshee short of completing the second one.

I think Euro still has the favour, but I'm just too damn tired to concentrate. I've already been slipping the past few tries.

I've also switched into a prot/heal build from a smiter/healer. Can't say I mind it. Mark of Prot and ROF spam for the win

And I've also become rather good at hunting stray monks from a crow. Of course names like "Hee Ling Yu" are dead giveaways...

                  • Ok, I did it yesterday. Finally I installed Guild Wars. According to my desire to play a caster (since I play a tank in EQ2) and your recommendations I started an Elementalist/Mesmer. I played for about two hours, it took a while to figure all out and got her to level 3.

Overall it is a nice game. It looks a bit easy, though, but this may be because of my level, which is still low. I don't have many spells (only 5 at the moment), but they work well, and two of them even heal me when I am beaten up.

The possible weapon choices disappointed me a bit. I mean, I am a pure caster even with my second class. I expected to be able to wield a wand and perhaps a dagger. But why in the hell can I wield a longsword, a great hammer and even a ****ing longbow? Which by the way does a nice damage over time, almost as much as my spells, however without using energy and not even needing arrows. It makes combat too easy IMO. But this may be subjective and due to my low level only.

So far I solo, and my hunting approach is almost always the same: Slow the target with a spell, soften it up with my bow while it crawls near me, then pummel it with my sword and chime in a few DDs and DoTs.

After the first two hours of experience I can say for sure, that I will play it again. Maybe I can raise my level to your heights one day and go adventuring with one of you.

                    • Later on, any heavy duty weapons like bows or hammers or swords will require so much warrior skills to perform to their maximum possible damage that using them as a full caster is useless, and it's better to go for the rods and icons and idols and stuff that give you energy, health and other perks while you let your energy do the damage.

                      • Yeah ... low level you can use whatever weapon you want, which is fine - but once you hit about 6-8 you start having prereqs on weapons. That, and the big advantage of sword/axe/hammer/bow are their special attacks (limited to their class - warrior or ranger).

Always remember this game is great because you don't have to limit yourself to one build once you make it - you can so quickly change your builds around (it takes a 'whopping' 12,000 experience to get 24 'change' points, enough to change nearly every point you have) that you can go from a firespec-elementalist to a support-mesmer directly, and not have to dumb down either one.

                        • Change points? I don't even have an idea what you're talking about. Perhaps I should RTFM first and not just fire up a game and play.

                          • I thought refunds recharged every 250 exp or so? Certainly not 12000! I switched to a prot/healer from smiter/healer, and my refunds were back to 24 after a few gos in Fissure. Maybe they changed it in an update.

This is correct. It is 6,000.

                                Welcome to the game!

He was referring to refund points. When ya online again, do press 'H' which brings up your profile I believe. If I'm wrong, look it up in the menu.

You will find refund points there, everytime you 'undo' a point you already invested into an attribute, you use up an refund point. That's one of neat features of this game - you are always getting refund points even after you have reached the maximum level as long you are earning experience points. So you do have room to experiment with your build.
