        • Because you want DrSpike to lose and don't think I can beat him or because we are both armour 20 and you think it will be a long and boring final?

Or perhaps you are thinking back to a GO game where DrSpike, Spaced, and....oh never mind, that was long ago, who really remembers that anyway

            • Does this mean you only processed the first round and because paramir was at 0 at the end of it the 2nd and 3rd round didn't get processed ? it was my understanding that all three rounds were processed regardless?

Even though it works to my advantage in this instance, I think the fight would have been over sooner had I known this (put more in Round 1 and less in the others when near the end of the fight).

              Clarification anyone?

              /me

              • Y'know, I don't think it's ever been set in the rules. But the way it's always been played, if a player is knocked out/killed the remaining rounds are not processed.

btw, I was worried about 2 20 DEF players dragging out the game, and IIRC Spaced didn't last in that GO game.

                • Well, should I win, and we listen to that great sage DrSpike and set the HP totals for the match not on the stage of the tournament (100/120/150) but on the effective damage bonus both players get (in this case -20) then we will be fine.

I think I have argued this every single tournament, with varying degrees of success. If I do get to the final I hope its 100 not 150, as it could take forever. With Ljube in the final (0 bonus) either 120 or 150 is acceptable.

                  Orders shortly.

Yes, I was surprised when I saw the 120/150 set in the rules at the beginning.

It's always been done before that if someone dies, the resulting orders are not processed. It was certainly a rule when I was playing and GMing, though I don't know if it's been altered since.

That's why a common tactic at the end was to put 50 in defense on the first hit and then knock them out with the second, as a usual reaction was to go all out fo the KO on the first hit.

                        • Yes, we've always played that when you are dead no more orders get processed. It makes the end of fights more interesting.

                          • As soon as one opponent goes down, the remaining turns are not processed, there used to be a story involved as well. But I am being real lazy on this one, but there will be a story for the finals. Anyway, hard to have a downed player continue to make hits.

                            Pm sent to Ljube.

                              • Having qualified for the finals I am now in the difficult position of deciding what to do next.

As I stated previously I didn't anticipate this game taking this long to finish (or for me to still be alive ) as it started June 1.

I am going to be away August 11-14 with no computer access and away from the 15th until the end of august with limited/intermittent access. Therefore I don't want to hold up the game by being away and am tempted to resign but I feel I am being penalized by slow play where I was usually the first or second to send in orders most turns. Do I stay in for the finals even though I may slow down an already slow game or would it be better that I resign?

Though any opinions are welcome, those of Spaced, DrSpike/Ljube and paramir are obviously those I will listen to most closely .

                                Thanks,
                                /me Gladiator VIII Finalist
