There is still PvP on the non-PvP servers, it's just optional. You can't be attacked unless you set your PvP flag by attacking someone already in combat (red name I believe), or typing /pvp.

Also, you can "duel" players by typing /duel (name) or right clicking on their portrait and selecting duel. There's a flag that gets planted between you guys, and there's a 300yd(?) radius that you can fight in. You don't die, you lose the duel at 1hp and it broadcasts to the area that (soandso) defeated (soandso) in a duel. If you leave the 300yd radius, it says you fled.

Yeah, Dwarves have a racial ability of +5 gun skill as well.

There's also engineering. You can make Gnomish Battle Chickens (summons an armored chicken to fight for you), Goblin Jumper Cables (resurrects a dead player), Gnomish Rocket Boots (increases your speed when used...can seriously harm you/kill you if it misfires, which is awesome to watch), Gnomish Universal Remote (lets you control a mechanical target), etc.

I also appreciate the subtle humour and references throughtout the game. The master engineer named Scooty (who teleports you to a guy named Spook)...NPC right outside a cave with oodles of colorful crystals named Spraggle Frock, the quests like "Chasing A-Me", etc.

And I disagree with Busted about the water in the game. I think it looks great:

Overall I find it to be a very good looking game. I was not a fan of Morrowind's graphics, also -- horribly implemented with poor art direction.

Does anybody know of a site with some good WoW AAR's. I would like to read some, while I wait for my game.

                  AAR = After action report.

Not a story. Just an account of what you did, why you did it, and who you teamed up with etc.

There are just forums where you read people's thoughts on a wide range of topics. Check out the European Blizzard WoW forums.

this was a roleplay server so maybe it's different.

I get the message that my town is under attack. I actually did attack the gnome first, and then realized I couldn't do anything to him. He then killed me as I was running away.

But even after I retrieved my body he killed me. and I was running away again. We weren't dueling.

It's not a big deal. He's the first aliance character I have seen on our side of the world. You'd have to be a pretty high level to brave that trip I guess.

As you can see, I'm not real big on pvp. I talked about killing greifers earilier, but usually I'm not tough enough to do so. Most of those guys have awesome builds and I can't touch them.

                        one more question.

should I go with 2 handed or 1 handed swords?

The way I understand it is, that there is only PvP if you allow it. You "enabled" PvP by attacking him, but he hadn't allowed your attack, so for him it was still PvE. However, by attacking him, you were now in PvP mode, so he could afterwards attack you.

I'm not sure, though. Maybe somebody who has the game can correct me.

I think you picked PvP by accident. Or you enabled PvP.

Your PvP flag stays for 5 minutes(?) after your last combat thing.

When you ressed, you still had the PvP flag on.

In beta I took my level 20 undead warrior all the way to the dwarf/gnome newbie ground. I did it partly to show people how horrible the RP server mechanics are for RPing... nothing like spawning a new dwarf character to see an undead hanging out with dwarves.

Then I flipped my PvP flag on, and it being a roleplay server, people started to attack me even though they where only level 3. Eventually search parties where formed to hunt me down and groups of 20 or so low levels headed by a couple higher levels (there wheren;t many people level 20+ at this time, so most of the high level characters they rounded up couldn't kill me alone either) it was pretty fun. I spent a good few days haunting the dwarven lands.
