Nah, I hope they don't fix it in Oblivion. OK, maybe this one can be fixed but there's definitely a lot of things that don't need to be fixed. The good thing about Morrowind is that complete freedom - which, obviously, comes with some balance issues - IF you choose to exploit them. But I'd rather have those remain than have the freedom taken away.

I don't think so. I do not believe the engine takes nonfixed objects into account when calculating sightlines ...
And yes. A good chameleon spell - or even just a bop on the head will do. Don't forget you can do 1 or 2 second duration spells ... highly effective for short duration, and if you have a good magic restoration potion you can recast it again as necessary
Don't forget you can always kill the person too.
Spoiler (as in "My favorite thing to do ... sort of spoiler, no plot or quest or anything):
My favorite low-level thievery when i'm playing an ... unethical ... character is to kill the alchemist in Balmora (the expensive one, who's a jerk anywho). You can trick her guard upstairs (steal something inexpensive like a pillow just in his view, then run out the second floor door, sticking him on that floor. (Dumb AI ... but that's another story.)
Then you can fight and kill her unobserved, and as long as you clean up the body all you have to do is pay off a low fine to the thieve's guild guy, and you're free and clear. She has a Grandmaster's mortar, and a full set of Master's equipment, along with some very expensive stuff otherwise. Very good money, sets you up nicely for alchemy if that's your bent, and all without any real work. (You have to work a bit to kill her - I suggest getting really close to her before doing anything, and killing her rather than the beast she summons - but I can kill her at like level 5 or something.)
Have fun<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

You can steal all that stuff from her without having to kill her... You dont even need to trick the guard upstairs to do that... Just sneak around and open the crates near her... I never make any potions in a new game until I first have gone to Balmora and done this...

Actually, there is an unguarded set of Master's alchemy equippment lying around at another place...
But thief characters are useless anyway. Mages can do it all as well. S Chameleon 90% spell for 3 seconds will let you steal anything in front of anyone.Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

In the Daedric shrine Ashalmimikala, there is a mage in a room with a circular table pressed up against the wall. If you look underneath the table, you can see a scroll on the floor between the table and the wall. The scroll glows a green color. The problem is I cannot find any way to pick up this scroll. I cant reach it with telekinesis or by normal means. Has anyone else run into this problem? This is Xbox version.

Some part of me thinks it's a triggered effect (requiring a specific journal entry to trigger) ... but I am not sure, i forget the names of the various shrines (tbh i never was one to remember such things )<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

the only shrine I have been to is that Azura's one.
Played some more last night. The problem is I can't resist the opportunity to steal and use trainers. It's almost like cheating.
I was doing that simple mage guild quest for that cat thing in the basement of the Balmora mages guild. You go to the top, and the NPC up there goes downstairs. I just noticed she has a filled grand soul gem worth 60,000 gold! I could of used it, but I couldn't resist getting that kind of money. I wasn't able to get the full 60,000 (since no one has that kind of gold), but through some trading back and forth with the creeper, I ended up with 30,000 all together.
So now I'm level 10
I'm still not that tough though, I didn't train my armour and blunt weapon skills. I only trained mage skills.
But that's okay. I don't like being level 2 that much anyways. You can be killed the lowliest of creatures. Damn Kwama warriors were kicking my ass. I couldn't clear the gnissis eggmine of blight.

Is it possible to kill people in the game that make it impossible to complete the main quest? For instance, it is early in the game and I killed some guy named Hassour Zainsubani up in Ald'ruhn because when I entered his hut and tried to talk to him, he attacked me without provocation. I read parts of some walkthrough that hints that he is involved with the main quest somehow...

err, yes it is very possible to do that .
The name rings a bell (but there are so many NPC's their names seem similar many times), but the location doesn't. As far as I know there is no one like that in Ald'Ruh who's important for the main quest who will attack you on sight. But ashlanders may attack you if you enter their hut. That is considered rude. It can be very easy to mess up the main quest when you go to the ashlander camp up north (on west part of island) for the first time. You need to gain some influence to be able to do anything.
There is a guy in one of the taverns of Ald'Ruhn I believe, he asks you to find him a gift as part of the main quest. You can give him some poetry book. He's important. And the redoran house will be important. I wouldn't kill the leaders of that house, you will probably need them to name you hortator (part of the main quest).
There is a slight alternate way of doing the main quest. It involves killing a god. But if you are a high enough level you can do it. But you may have to be up to the 3rd and 4th trials of the neverene by that point. I'm sure you still have to do the early main quests. But you may be able to skip the hortator and ashlander warleader quests.

The guy who auto attacks you in Ald Rhun is if you have one of the ash statues in your inventory because it starts a certain quest and he's involved. I think that is the same one."Yay Apoc!!!!!!!" - bipolarbear

Permanent Summon Spell
To permanently summon any creature, first you need to have the summon spell for whichever creature you want to permanently summon, and soul trap. Next, you must find someone who makes spells, and make a spell with:
Summon *Creature* (Any type) on self for 1 second
Soul trap on target for 2 seconds
Now you need to point straight down, and cast. The creature should appear in front of you, and stay and follow you around until you kill it and dispose of it's corpse. This can be used multiple times to summon multiple creatures. Also, unlike ordinary summons, you will be able to collect items from the creature's body.
I tried this just for the hell of it and I was walking around with a whole posse of atronachs, skeletons, bonewalkers, and a scamp!
Of course, then I reloaded my last save and resumed play without cheating..

Something slightly odd happend yesterday.
For some reason i can't quite work out(not in a bad sense i mean this), i decided to load up my last morrowind(goty) save game.
Spookily it was dated April 3 04. Really it was, so for some reason exactly 1 year after i last played it(well not quite as the save games time was 1.35am), i felt some urge to carry on.
Anyway apart from the slightly freaky chronological thingie, i'm pleasantly surprised at how this game(even on a lowly xbox) still has so much to offer. It really is fun just decideing what you want to do next.
And i've still got so much left to do(hardly even started the main quest as it is). So i just nearly finished the Imperial Legion quests, just one last task to do to be top dog in morrowind - but i might just leave it due to the situation that it involves, it doesn't quite fit in with my character.
I spent the best part of yesterday working out where i was in my quests(and where the people i should be talking to are!), and where i had left all my belongings etc - a year is a long time it seems.
So i'm thinking as i wonder around the landscape picking herbs+plants, maybe i'll become a herbalist + make potions for a living.
Sometimes its just nice to walk around and see the sights. Still a great game with great ambience and vibes'The very basis of the liberal idea – the belief of individual freedom is what causes the chaos' - William Kristol, son of the founder of neo-conservitivism, talking about neo-con ideology and its agenda for you.info here. prove me wrong.
