    Huh? How can I split up the retinue? I didn't even know it was possible and I've had the game for ages.
    Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

        I know that

        Get the general with his retinue on the same spot as another general. You can then simply drag the retainers onto the caracter you want, and they'll stick with the other guy.

          What germanos said up there
          It's not easy, as ye know, to get faction members together to do this, so I usually wind up giving the older one's retainers to some new just-come-o'-age member. Sometimes its more trouble than its worth.

            There seems to be a limit on how many you can have as well.

                In present game I lost 2 faction leaders within a few years of each other, and neither was past 56.
                I'd love to keep one around until 70's.

                  I've been playing this today on my new PC

                  Just to make you all jealous I can run it on the highest settings with no slowdown at all. It looks gorgeous.

                  I am seriously in love with this game already.

                      It is fabulous

                      Now... what text file do I have to edit to make the game think I have completed an imperial campaign? I'm itching to send Hoplites into action vs legions

                        He-he, now the little bugger is 73, game starts to bog down a bit when you have 6 armies on 6 different fronts (and I loaded HL2 and started playing KOTOR2 on the Xbox).

                        Jamski,

                        is the total realism mod, lets you play any faction and makes a lot of "corrections"

                          It basically makes all the good units weaker and/or take longer to train and/or cuts them altogether, and slows population growth

                          Fun > realism in a game like this.

                            Bah! Speak for yourself. I've found the Realism mod to add exponentially to my enjoyment of the game. I'm currently helping playtest v5.0 and it's definitely the best yet. Hopefully it will be out the end of this week.

                                Most of my leaders die between 65-70.
                                I don't remember a leader dying (from old age) before 60... but I don't really check, so may be it happened.
                                The oldest I got was 80.

                                I use old leaders (50+) as 'retinue generators' for younger leaders:
                                - settle old man in a city with academy, he''ll attract retinues faster than young man (better influence I guess);
                                - hand those retinues to young man with less influence
                                - re-generate retinues with old man and send young man to war to earn his own influence;
                                - repeat process
