Re: Am I gonna continue???
Don't know?? I running out of sure money makers so I think I want to try for the Million Gold Cruise at Rogue & Swashbuckler or try a different Era (all my games have been set at 1660 Era).
The 2nd million comprised of catching criminals (usually 3-5k worth--see below for explanation on process), rescuing daughters from Mendoza (I'll explain that process below), sacking prosperous to wealthy towns (see below also), capturing ships (see below), and selling captured ships & commodities at top price.
1) Criminals: Once you get all the special items that there are to get from successfull dances w/attractive & plain daughters & with Lost City Treasures from Beautiful ones--then with each successfull intro dance (kiss or dip), giving daughter ring or necklace, defeating suitor, and then last dance--you're giving the location of a wanted criminal.
2) Rescuing Daughters: Going after Mendoza will get you 2k in gold, and a fully upgraded ship worth 1800 gold.
Note (1 & 2 go hand-in-hand): Once I complete the romance part by returning captured daughter to her father the Governor, I will sack the town and install new governor and repeat the process for each nationality.
3) Sacking Towns: To sack a prosperous or wealthy town, go to nearby settlement and meet the mayor and escort him successfully as the new governor of the town he needs to get to. Once he arrives safely, the economy is pumped-up one level. If garrison is to large, get Indians to attack target town before you (they weaken the garrison & population, not the economy). Don't use pirates because they hurt the economy.
4) Capturing ships: Target these ships: The one the barmaid gives you. Invasion Force ships. Military Payroll ships. Any ship that is escorted. Smugglers. Raiders returning to port. And lastly, the Treasure ships.
5) Selling at Top Dollar: Fully upgraded ships--Small=900, Medium=1350, & Large=1800. Commodities--New Governor pumps up all prices. New Immigrants--Lowers prices on Goods & Luxuries, raises prices on Spice & Sugar. Indian attack-raises all prices. Pirate attack--lowers all prices."And his word shall carry
death eternal to those who
stand against righteousness."

After further contemplation, I'm gonna continue the cruise until the crew turns unhappy or I can't win swordfights. I want to see how old (age wise) I can get. I've noticed one thing, even though I'm currently 80 yrs. old, I have NO gray hair or wrinkles."And his word shall carry
death eternal to those who
stand against righteousness."

No.
I haven't played the other Eras.
I haven't come across the Main Spanish Treasure fleet--it's suppose to be a convoy of 2-3 Treasure Ships (escorted of course).
Haven't completed a full game (start to finish) at Rogue or Swashbuckler.
I haven't duplicated the million gold cruise at the higher levels or during the other Eras."And his word shall carry
death eternal to those who
stand against righteousness."

All I can say is this. I played the original on the Commodore 64 and loved it. I love this version, even with its repeativeness and shortcomings. This game is easy to play and IMHO, FUN."And his word shall carry

Troll, there is no first-person aspect at all. Everything you see is always from a third-person perspective. You see yourself sword-fighting from the side, you got a ceiling camera wacthing yourself dance, and you have a bird's-eye view of the sea when you are out sailing.

Sorry, but I disagree with the hardness issue. To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection.
