    see my above post.

edit: theremine, you quoted it . because the game is designed to run on future generation computers, top of the line computers today, cannot run with all the graphics settins set to max and all the effects turned on.

What do you mean? 4.5 GHz processor? 6 GB RAM? Video cards that don't exist?

This is a timely thread in my case, so thanks quantum_mechani
I'll most likely be joining the +1Ghz club in the new year, and i'd not even given what games(exclueding FPS+MMORPGs) i would be running to take advantage of this.
RTW is the big one i'll be looking to get, KOTOR i got on xbox and also the CotN game i'll check out(you could try the demo as its now out)........was Morrowind2(Oblivion) coming out on PC?

Hmmm i'd also been looking at those historic strat games from slitherine and might give one of them a try, info here http://www.slitherine.co.uk/ .

Theres also the follow up to Imperium Galactica2 coming some time.

Still the other option is to make some decent games yourself

This is a sad state of affairs

EDIT: i forgot to mention this one, as its one i've been keeping an eye on - i guess its going to be called SeaDogs2 when it comes out in the US/Europe? So far just a russian website link http://www.akella.com/k2/gallery.html it looks like it will require a decent PC(if it comes out i'm tipping it as a 'Pirates!' beater, having been impressed with what i saw of the flawed 'Pirates of the Caribbean' game).

Its all open - anything goes, i'll probably post a thread asking for advice when the time comes near. At least it will be fun to see who suggests a cyrix

well i even have to run a slow-down utility on my P166 for some of my fav games(Xcom for example), so i really haven't been in any rush

Still quantums question is a very good one - why bother, especialy if your not going to play MMORPG's or FPS's??

The truth is i have a couple of games i'd like to play, which i can't on my current technology(which has gone up to a PIII 533 recently! wow the speed! ).

But mainly i'm looking to use the extra Ghz in intensive applications like rendering graphics etc, photoshop stuff, compiling C++ etc. There really doesn't appear to be much that is coming out game wise to make that my only reason for breaking the 1Ghz mark......well unless this thread comes up with some good suggestions

Sod that, you have 5 years games to catch up on.

And how about me Dr. Spike?

I put all the specials from local PC stores, Dells online site, etc, everything from $(US)350 to $675. with specs and everything in a spreadsheet for Queen of the Mark, after giving her an update on what current good specs are (and how far they exceed what our dino 'puter has)

She says she hasnt had time to look at it yet.

At least from a gaming POV im cool with the delay, since im just now getting addicted to Moo2

Sounds like a really good way to fill time that could be used to play good games.

PC buying - like so many games, trivial in single player, but quite challenging in multiplayer

Still have time for Moo2 though. Of course thats a "spreadsheet game" too
