  • Where are the games?

For the first time ever, I have a machine able to run cutting edge PC games, but now there are none to be found! Can anyone suggest a non-FPS (some action is ok, just as long as it's not centered on it), non-multiplayer oriented game that will give my computer a work out? The only thing I have found is Rome: Total War.

    Thanks.

This is kind of sad. I read your post up until "that will give my computer a work out" and thought: "Rome: Total War".

Oh well. How about Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War? That's really multiplayer oriented though, the SP campaign is quite short. Bleeding edge graphics and strategy are two things that don't mix often, which is generally a good thing, really.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

I didn't mean only stategy games, RPGs or Simulation are good as long as they are not just action.

Neverwinter Nights isn't leading edge, but it still has very good graphics.

I suppose you could also try Morrowind or Knights of the Old Republic.

everquest 2 will kick your machines' ass.

I can guarantee your computer can't run that game at the highest settings.

I have Morrowind, I thought Neverwinter Nights and Everquest are mostly mutiplayer? I will look into Knights of the Old Republic.

              oh, I didn't see the non-multiplayer part

Neverwinter Nights has many, many modules for single player. It was originally designed to be multiplayer mostly. but single player works just as well for that game. All the original campaigns can be played in single player, as with most user created modules.

Knights has good graphics, but not as good as Morrowind.

I don't mind it having MP, if has good SP as well. Actually, I would love MP too if I didn't have a 30kbps modem

If you don't play FPS then you probably shouldn't have bothered with the cutting edge machine.

KotOR is the only game I've seen posted here that kind of fits your requirements. I could run it with very high detail on my machine when the game came out though, and that's almost a year old now.

Still, you can have the satisfaction in any SP game like RTW of just turning up everything to max and still having perfect play.

It's a mmorpg. They expect people to be playing the game for years. And they want to keep the game engine on top of computer technology for the next few years.

Then give details... examples. Tell me why I can run HL2 at a ridiculous framerate with everything maxed, but I can't run everything in this game.
