argh more name changes. what was your name before? I recognize the avatar, but I can't associate it with a name . sorry.

I tend to associate a lot of people's posts by their avatar. Most people don't change their avatars that often. Not me though. I have changed my avatar 3 times today alone

Kuciwalker is one to talk about name changes .

I've been here since 1998, not one name change... beat that!

I thought it sounded a bit better, and it opposites the "Comrade."

Does anyone know if the graphics are supposed to be better in KOTOR2?

To my knowledge, it's just the same engine, if a bit revamped.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

They were fine IMO in the first one. Though for some reason I had tons of problems on the fields of Dantooine, though it got a bit better after I turned off grass. No clue why.

Hmm... I was just thinking about in the fields of Dantooine, why a lightsaber could not destroy an animal?

because those animals are tough . And you are just an unskilled apprentice who doesn't know how to strike in the critical areas of the body.

I found the Dark Side unbearable. The reason being that the 'evil' options were limited to horrendously stupid acts of thuggery. A Dark Side character in KOTOR is more like a moronic schoolyard bully than a true evil mastermind (doing as Palpatine would have done woule net you a few LS points, despite the evil intent). And that goes for the Sith characters in this game too. Especially the Korriban brats (Lashowe, Shaardan and Mekel).

Because I despise bullies and bullying with every fibre of my being, getting through the Dark Side game was the hardest thing I have ever done in the entire history of my life as a gamer.

This is exactly what I said when I made my KOTOR thread. I wanted a slow descent through some difficult decisions to start my path to the dark side. Instead you get over the top dialogue and evil behaviour from the start. I didn't bother playing as a dark character in the end.

Well, there's some of that in the game. Mind-controlling witnesses to testify "properly" in court will net you dark side points, and that's a very Palpatine thing to do.

I do agree that many of the Dark Side things are just stupid & thuggish though. I mean, if Mission & the Wookie are just randomly swearing loyalty to you... I'm not going to mouth off and insult them! I happily accept my new unwitting slaves. I just don't do the more overt Dark Side things unless it makes sense.

Another example where you'd have to be crazy to choose the Dark Side response is during Jedi Training on Dantooine. "The Masters are holding me back" as a dialogue option? WTF? Gee, they only made an exception and accepted an adult and gave him or her all the cool training right away! What more could you possibly want?

Still, things like collecting unjust bounties aren't bad Dark Side things to do. I had no problem doing those. Also, some of the attitudes you could present by your statment also worked- telling the Sith Governor on Taris you'd rend the flesh from his bones, or something.

Anyway, KOTOR is still a wonderful game. I like how the plot is very strong either way you play it- if you do it light side, the theme is redemption, and if you do it dark side, the theme is revenge. I didn't see the first plot twist coming, although it was certainly hinted at with.. well, it's been pretty well Spoiled already, right? Revan always being in a mask & quiet and getting those "visions" of him... that said, I don't recall the computer on Kashyyk saying anything overt. It was more the fact that the computer responded to you at all that would be the clue. I do love the conversations with the Jedi Masters on Dantooine with full knowledge, though- they're really talking on two different levels.

The second plot twist I don't think fit as well, but whatever, I guess they needed to do that. I know that they tried to explain the Sith army by having somebody mention that they tortured captured Jedi until they turned... the thing is, I can totally buy that being tortured will bring out your desire for revenge and help turn you to the Dark Side. What I don't buy is that you'd then join the person who was torturing you! You'd be just using the Force any way you can to kill your oppressor! If Bastilla had killed Malak and taken up command of the Sith fleet herself, that'd have been neat.
                              All syllogisms have three parts.
Therefore this is not a syllogism.

Granted. I think most of these things should appear at the start so you can begin a slow descent to the dark side. Instead right from the word go you get over the top dialogue and evil actions.
