Malak is a pushover if you've made a fighter.

Flurry + force speed + double blade will kick his ass.

Critical + force speed + the critical upping saber augmentations + dual sabers should pretty much annihilate him.

However, if you made a caster type, he may be a little harder, because he uses that force nullification deal.

    Spoiler:
The easiest way to beat him of course is to turn him into that dancing girl and party.
That is a rad easter egg.

When he regenerated the first time, my first instinct was to see if I could kill the trapped Jedi. The thought of having to fight him n many times made me groan.

You mean I could have just killed the trapped Jedi?! I just fought him for as many times as it was necessary. But then I'm not an utilitarian, I would've abhored the murdering of innocents to further my goals.

Saber throwing or Force Breaching the captive Jedi doesn't kill them. They're already dead, but due to the devices Malak has them hooked up to, they're not yet able to become one with the Force as Jedi usually do when they die. Saber throwing or Force Breaching them sets them free so they can become one with the Force and Malak can't drain them.

You're not murdering innocents if you are denying Malak his power boosts.

Of course, if you play Dark Side, and have Death Field (plain old Force Drain will do as well), you can drain them for yourself. In that case, you probably are murdering their souls.

Actually, he is a pushover for consulars as well. My Light Side 5/15 Scoundrel/Consular had no trouble killing Malak.

I simply cast Force Immunity and Master Valour. I also used Master Speed to evade him.

Next I Force Breach Malak, and hit him with a Plague. Then I keep Force Waving him, occasionally doing a saber throw here and there.

Once he drains his first captive, I recast Master Speed and breach the rest of the captives. Then I repeat the above steps.

When his life is nearly spent, I close in and finish him off with a few strokes of my lightsaber. By that time, the plague will have reached it's maximum drainage of attributes and he will be (relatively) weak as a kitten.

His Force nullification is only Force Immunity, which can easily be dispelled with Force Breach. Of course the problem with Breach is that you don't get to make devastating use of it until the final battle since none of the Dark Jedi I can remember use Force Immunity, and there's definitely no opponent who uses Light Side buffs.

The opposite here. I read all the dialogue, asked all the questions I could, the first run through, and on my second run I'm skipping through all the stuff I've already read and looking for stuff I missed.

                You can with lightsaber throw.

They don't die, I think. They look like they're just sitting down.

yeah but lightsaber throw really didn't do that much damage. It was much easier with the evil force powers.

Yeah, I don't understand skipping dialogue first time around.

I had a friend who played, who was already at Dantooine, and didn't know who Bastilla or Malak was.

well I did know who those people were . I read all the dialogue. I just skimmed it really fast . That's the only reason I missed the subtle hints Bastila and Yoda lookalike make about your past.

And frankly, I don't put that much thought into games. I like to be surprised. I'm this way with mystery movies. I never see the twist at the end. Movies like 6th sense (bad example since someone already spoiled the movie before I saw it) always snag me in and throw me for a surprise.

Jeez, what's the point then? The best part of the game is the journey and I don't understand the reason for skipping past it. I agree with you,

Definitely. May as well play a hack and slash. KOTOR's strength is it's involving story and characters.
