  • I can't believe I'm being blamed for this fiasco. IIRC, others had access to the OoB, including some not from this site who showed interest in the game. Any of them could've tipped off Spike. After all:

    1) I didn't attack Spaced or Sparrow, which you think I would've done if I betrayed you

    2) I'm not dumb enough to think that Spike would trust me if I sent him an OoB, and I'm pretty sure he isn't dumb enough to believe me.

    3) I'd have to leave a trail of PMs that DrSpike could post to show I betrayed you (of course, he could make something up and post it. Whatever).

Face it, that was a dumb OoB to send and Spike picked THE generic OoB which happened to fit. Remember, I didn't pick the OoB.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

    • Hmmm...really then why did you not attack with us?

      • good question, as even if DrSpike correctly matched our OoB (without assistance ) then if we would have all attacked in unison, I think we could have still won the day (the battle, though not the war). Actually even if you and I had been allowed to attack together it would have resulted in a much closer battle.

However, had Theben sent his ships, it seems that Ljube wouldn't have allowed us to attack as one, so I suppose in the end it didn't much matter what we did, we were both screwed no matter what.

Whether it was by our ally, by the GM or by our OoB is still open for debate.

              Perhaps.

I suppose only Theben, DrSpike and Ljube know for sure.....but I don't expect them to clarify

You were certainly not screwed by the GM. I follow the rules when processing orders and I don't ask for clarifications if the orders are legal.

My GMing is impartial and strict, but can be harsh sometimes, I admit it. Perhaps it's time someone else took the honourable high seat. I'll finish the game the way I started it, but then someone else should take over.

                    • Yeah, I doubt anyone's seriously suspecting you of anything. I've been more than happy with your GMing, knowing that the sword cuts both ways (meaning, if my opponent does a similar stupid mistake as I may do, they will suffer from it likewise). I'd consider GMing but GO is just so much more fun when playing.

I tend to agree, I for one, forgot to put that we were to attack in an alliance.

                              • Yeah, it's unfortunate, but the GM can only process orders as they arrive, not make assumptions. Plus even allied I still would have crushed an SC/Sparrow fleet anyway.

As to the OOB, sometimes people are lucky, I guess.
