Why are there so many WWII shooters out there, but I've never heard of a WWI FPS?

Still, you'd think there'd be some.

How many WW1 movies have been made in the last 30 years. I can't think of any. It would work though.

Buy Ghost Recon, download the War of Infamy mod, and you have the greatest WW2 PC game ever.

Oh. I misread the original post.

Well of course there aren't WW1 games. How idiotic would that be? A bunch of bolt actions and trenches.

There has been a couple ww1 games, I think... well, mods atleast.

There was one ww1 game that had modern/futuristic weapons, too.

But it doesn't exactly lend itself to FPS gameplay, although I think it could probably be pulled off now that the genre has evolved somewhat.

EDIT: And I think it would probably have to be more similiar to ww2online's gameplay to do history any justice. And that's not exactly mainstream.

America was only got involved towards the end. That's the reason.

So why aren't there any American Civil War shooters then?

Well, I assume it'd be a little boring having pistols and Springfield rifles as your only weapons.

                            Probably the best answer.

That would be the fun of it.
What's the fun of auto-targetting weapons? That's just as lame a playing with a hack.
