Why are there so many WWII shooters out there, but I've never heard of a WWI FPS?

There has been a couple ww1 games, I think... well, mods atleast.
There was one ww1 game that had modern/futuristic weapons, too.
But it doesn't exactly lend itself to FPS gameplay, although I think it could probably be pulled off now that the genre has evolved somewhat.
EDIT: And I think it would probably have to be more similiar to ww2online's gameplay to do history any justice. And that's not exactly mainstream.Rethink Refuse Reduce Reuse

Well, I assume it'd be a little boring having pistols and Springfield rifles as your only weapons.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Well of course there aren't WW1 games. How idiotic would that be? A bunch of bolt actions and trenches.
What's the fun of auto-targetting weapons? That's just as lame a playing with a hack.Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
