Will Sheep be bothered to go back as far as the first votes cast, and then keep track of the changes, or will he just go from the bottom, and end up not counting my post?[/blatant +1]

I'd say make a new post, and edit the old vote out. That way at least you have to do some work for your +1 and it makes counting votes easier.
