a post i made over at the official boards hoping to influence the devs. have a look if you are interested.
You made a mistake that many people do- to paraphrase someone from Rinkworks, the English language has capitals and we use them do denote the beginning of a sentence.

How can you expect to be taken seriously if you don't communicate formally? Your ideas are {edit:}FANTASTIC but people (devs) pay more attention if your words look professional. Especially on that site.

    Discussion topic:
Does this include Victorian spacing (2x after a period) on boards like these where the font size is smaller?

    P.S. Oblivion looks
    AWESOME

Are they developing it on the Xbox 2? or on both the PC and Xbox 2? Have you noticed this on the forest shot:
This shot demonstrates the incredible forests that can be generated by the Xbox 2.

actually matth i've seen bethesda employees(red names w/ bethesda logo) in my thread so that's good enough for me. seriously do you think my lack of capitalization is going to turn off a dev immediately when most of the other posts there are devoid of thought? heh. i think my thread title(less is more) and little summary(gameplay is key, not content) are enough to interest anyone past my lack of capitals.

nostromo - supposedly they only have xbox 2 dev kits from what i can gather. they want to release it on ps3/xbox2/nintendo revolution/pc if possible but i'm not sure if ps3/nintendo are going to work out for them. xbox 2 without hard drive might even be quite painful but i bet microsoft probably is willing to work with them to help them out given how well morrowind sold on xbox.

What makes you think that the Xbox alone can render forests?

I really don't care here but with all the morons running around the ES forums it seems as if it would be an instant qualifier for lead beta tester

Pg, I'm sure that devs would appreciate a good idea or thought if they see one but using proper puncation and such would help the odds of them taking you seriously. Beside it's a good habit to practise, hmm?

That includes proper spelling which I'm guilty of violating already

I never said that. I just noticed the following remark on the forest screenshot:

Look capitals! Seriously, I don't know why it's such a big deal. It's just so much faster to type without punctuation(less key strokes). Next time I post a thread for meant to influence devs I'll capitalize.

regarding dnl it is somewhat impressive with the draw distances but the screenshots feel dead. you need gameplay with graphics or they are pointless. judging from the scope of that game it sounds like they are going a bit over the top on sheer size. size is good but it needs a point.

Exactly- an effort thing. But it doesn't matter, so I'll forget all about it and never mention it again.

There's no way they can ignore the crtitisim of the first engine and it looks like graphics are already going strong (I worry that in 1 year they won't be as impressive ). I think we will get a winner!

bethesda has a good track record with games in general. they haven't released any really crap ones have they? i haven't played arena but all the other tes games have been great. i've played over 40 hours in both morrowind and daggerfall despite their shortcomings.

one thing that kinda bothers me is how bad their forum is. there is like one topic in twenty that has anything meaningful in it. all the other topics are about the same stuff repeated ad nauseum. it's probably making them think as long as they have ridable mounts they'll have at least 5 million copies sold. heh. seriously i don't remember any other forums for games coming out so bad. i don't know what they really means though.

Most games like this fail to match their hype and expectations. Elder Scrolls IV is hopefully going to be a great game, but I doubt it's going to deliver on half of what they're talking about now while the game is still in early development.

Well when you consider most people at that forum are probably 12 and just want to be able to ride the pretty pink pony to Caldera. . .

I can see it now, the topic list for Oblivion; "OMFG! PoSt PiCs Of YoUr MOUTN!!!!!!!1111!!!!", "OMFG! pOsT PiX oF yOuR hOmE!!!!!!!1111!!!!!", "HElP PLEEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" , "i cant find x object please tell me where it is NOW!!!! forget about the fact that I never looked where the NPC told me to", "WHERE'S THE DRAGON////? THE npc sad ther s a drgon///", "OMFG! PoSt PiCs Of YoUr munt!!!!!!!1111!!!!", "OMFG! PoSt PiCs Of YoUr MOUN!!!!!!!1111!!!!"

I would continue but you get my point.

                            Re: Bethesda makes good games.

Sea Dogs was flawed. I didn't hear good things about Pirates of The Carribean. But Elder Scrolls is their flag ship; so yes, it will be good.

I think it's safe to assume that Bethesda won't gamble on this one

Though you may critize their forum, it's actually incredibly intellegent for a forum with a lot of console gamers.
