Some info about the next Elder Scrolls :

We are pleased to announce that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is currently in development for PC and future generation consoles. In development since 2002, Oblivion is another leap forward in role-playing with its combination of freeform gameplay and cutting-edge graphics. The world-exclusive details on Oblivion are featured in the October issue of Game Informer. Check out their mammoth 12-page cover story to get all the details and screenshots. (And yes, that's in-game art on the cover.)

For the lazy ones: according to Bethesda, what's on the cover is in-game art. And yes, it seems there will be horses...

I hope they design some better NPC's that actually drag you into the game, with names I am able to remember. I got bored with morrowind simply because there was nothing special to do. The environment was nice though

I hope I have a computer that can handle it.

Yes, better, more memorable NPC's, with better dialogues.

I'm not sure what they mean by in-game art. Do they mean to say that the graphics will look like what we see on the cover of that mag? If so, you'll need a very powerful computer indeed. Nothing new here: Morrowind's specs where pretty high at the time.

yeah dialogue leaves something to be desired.

I play an unsociable type that pretty much tells people to **** off unless they have any use to me.

I have more fun exploring. My favourite part of the game.

Some people who say they read the magizine article posted information at gamefaqs.com. No way to know if its true or not but it sounds good if it is

There's already a warning in the guy's post. Anyway, I read it. I only have this to say: the story line is unbelievably dumb. It's probably the dumbest thing I ever read. Makes me wonder about the authenticity of the information.

                      That will be great fun.

“The combat will be every bit exiting as a FPS"
                        and
The combat is a much bigger focus than in the earlier games
                        .
How can combat be a bigger focus than in Morrowind?
In Morrowind, you say yes or no to NPCs, fight, prepare for fights, heal from fights, and move around between fights. Now this will put more emphasis on combat???
And the game will probably run only on hardware you'll be able to purchase in 2006?

                          Interesting points:
Current release date is Winter 2005

It’s a fact that, statistically, gamers prefer shorter games, and often do not finish more involved titles

Lock picking, mixing potions, and forging armor for example are going to be done through a mini game of sorts

                          (thinking mario party here)
you still make your own of course

Characters will converse in free flowing non scripted discussions that are possible due to this new CS

I just worry that it will look as fantastic as Morrowind did for its time but that they will have cut a large part of the open-endedness that I love.

The lock-picking could work like in Splinter Cell.
