I've been studying certain sites carefully and I've yet to see any special versions around.

According to an Id programmer, you will need a 512 MB video card to see Doom 3 in all its glory:

Warez sites are so 2000, Kassi. The leaked alpha had nothing good and just 3 maps for E3 demonstration. Whereas some people have already seen much more....

Is this why it took so long for this game to be released? 'Cause there was no card that could actually play it?

Soon, ATI will release 512MB cards late fall IIRC.

It took long to release because they actually did their job with testing and polishing.

And I will never buy an ATI card. Though a 512 card is something to keep in mind for like in 2-3 years.

                  the special version is there....

alpha version is crap. you guys should try out the beta. Its a really short level with few zombies and bulldog thingy. Thats should be easier to find.

Dont get ATI folks. That is, if you wanna run doom at it full potential.

                  :-p

That beta is the same alpha with a few more levels added.

                      JESUS F*CK!

/me bought a GF4 Ti 128MB in March as it would easily be able to run Doom3 on medium details....

What kind of monitor would you need for a 512MB card to be worth it?

You need a 512MB card if you want to play Doom 3 at Ultra quality level. But you can still play it with a 128 MB card, at medium level. According to the Id programmer, "this still looks really, really good..."

I was sceptical at first, but it seems it looks surprisingly good on the Xbox. So it should run fine on a decent PC. Of course, the Xbox doesn't have to contend with the bloatware that is Windows XP... If the Xbox version gets good reviews, I'll get it. Unfortunately, I don't have a decent PC to play it on. My compusaurus can barely run CIV 3: conquests...

                              BTW, Win98 won't run Doom 3.

So do I have any chances of running Doom3 with P4 2.6Ghz, 512 mb, Geforce 4200 Go 64 mb? :/
