When you place a one way signal an arrow appears telling you which direction it will signal to, if a train comes the wrong way to the signal the train will just turn around (i assume) like in TT.
In the screenshot a train travelling out of that station will always go to the left track, while a train coming down towards the station can choose either platform to load up on because there is 2 double signals telling it with platform is free.
I started a new game, and created two stops at useless places, to just make a straight railroad... just before the trains get out of the stations there's a double 'stop sign', while there's also some single 'stop signs' placed like on the screenshot...
But it still doesn't work. In the save there's 2 trains, the 'top' one for some reason keeps going "backwards" (has done so since start... might be because I have no extra wagons), while the 'bottom' train goes normally...
Now these two trains have stopped for each other, even though one is leaving the place the other one is entered (but not forced to enter*)
*The 'top' train goes to the 'bottom' tracks, even though it could just as well use the 'top' tracksAttached FilesThis space is empty... or is it?

Also keep the crossovers together so its easier to place signals and on the "one way" tracks lay down single signals every so often, so that a train behind another train on the same track wont stop. The front train will regularly cross signals and tell the one behind whats happening in front and its ok to keep going.Attached FilesCall to Power 2: Apolyton Edition - download the latest version (12th June 2011)

To make it more simple here a diagram.
When T1 approaches S1 it goes over the crossover track and it sees that S1 is facing the wrong way to a train exiting the station, it also sees that the signal on the other side of the track (opposite of S1) is facing the correct way, so it goes there.
In the top screenshot the train exits the station but has no orders as to which track to stick to when going over B1 section, when it comes out of the right station terminal theres nothing to tell it to go left before it reaches the crossover.Call to Power 2: Apolyton Edition - download the latest version (12th June 2011)

Maquiladora ,
I was placing cargo depots so i guess that's tick the 'blindly obvious' box
Watching the tutorial as well (rather than trying to interact) means i might actually manage to play a game now.
Still not convinced about the track and road laying though.
Spec wise i'm playing on a P3 733 with 256MB and it seems to play fine although i've only tried the small maps.

Passenger Stop
Passenger stops are designated roadside
pick-up and drop-off points for
passengers that you can construct on
any road type. Buses and trams can stop
briefly at passenger stops to deliver and
discharge people, but cannot remain at
these stations to wait for a full load of passengers. On the main
game view, passenger stops appear as small signposts along the side
of the road.
Passenger Terminus
Like a passenger stop, a passenger
terminus serves as a pick-up and drop-off
point for passengers. You can only
build this station type at the end of a
road, but a passenger terminus has two
advantages over a passenger stop:
• It allows buses to wait for a full load of passengers, thus
maximizing the profit potential of the vehicle.
• It allows two buses to load and unload simultaneously.Call to Power 2: Apolyton Edition - download the latest version (12th June 2011)

Thx for trying to help stupid me
But now I've gotten to one more problem...
We still have the stations Bootway and Bootway Oilfield, but now I've added Charstone in the middle...
Train one and two goes from Bootway to Bootway Oilfield
Train Tree goes from Bootway Oilfield to Charstone
Train Four goes from Bootway to Charstone
The problem is train 4 tries to get down to the same track in charstone station as train 3 is in, and has tried it for some time... all trains has stopped because of this...Attached FilesThis space is empty... or is it?

One thing puzzles me... all houses produces mails, but why don't they accept them? I have a few train startions (going from one town to another with mail and passengers), but none of them accepts mail even though the stations are as close to the center of the towns as possible...This space is empty... or is it?

Here's an example of how I build my tracks, if you want to look at it. I have 9 trains servicing 3 stations, all rather smoothly.
In that save I have just recently expanded to a tripple rail track, because there was way too much congestion with just 2 tracks, especially with that long hill climb right before the tunnel.
Even with an extra rail climbing the mountain, it was still really slow. It didn't start going smoothly untill I added the round-about at the steel mill station so that the traffic would be streamlined. In transport tycoon I would always used those roundabouts, but they take up alot more space in this game.
EDIT: Would be a good idea to include the file...

Heres a good 3 way junction, made tiny to fit on one screen.
Put it in the upload space as its quite wide.

Several hours later i've finally finished the easiest scenario. I don't hold out much hope for any other maps
I really don't get the signals though. Placing double signals on a track with only one train on it the train stopped and wouldn't go past ? Why ? If there's nothing else on the whole network why would it stop ?
Also is there anyway to stop trains turning around and heading back to where they came from when they find a stop signal ?
Do 'one way' signals turn the track into one way tracks or do they only hold traffic in that direction ?
I finished the beginner map with a three platform station because otherwise my trains just went nowhere - doesn't seem very efficent.
If i set a vehicle to wait for full load does it pick up partial loads until its full or does it wait for a station to have the complete load ? Viewing the vehicle info tab it seems to be the latter which may be why i struggled to pick up any steel - it seems to drain away very fast.
Wish list so far (apart from a better manual) some way of showing when stations/depots etc aren't connected. I've spent ages trying to work out why trains or trucks are going to a station and eventually it's because the track isn't connected properly although the graphics make this hard to tell.
