Five immediate improvements I can see:

    1. Curved roads and tracks

    2. Higher bridge spans

    3. Single tile wide stations.

    4. Stations on tracks and roads

    4. Stations on trestles.

    Very nice interchange possibilities...

One problem: Some of the roads dead end and double up. I hope this isn't because the AI hasn't improved.

      1. Curved roads and tracks
transport tycoon deluxe allowed that, I think.

and right now this game looks pretty much exactly like that 6-7 year old title

I think they curved to right angles in one tile. I was pointing to the ability to have larger curves over a few tiles for that smooth look.

And yeah, the graphics look very similar, expecially the grading on slopes.

Weeell. Having played TT Deluxe, it was pretty familiar.

They've streamlined gameplay by removing the vehicle depots, you just place the vehicles on the road/track and they go on from there. Too short time in the demo (only one year) to find out how to replace stuff, or whether they need to be repaired.

The graphics are pretty much the same as before.

The demo was too short and in a too early period to see any considerable changes to TTD. There was one though: building roads and railways is now way, way more inconvenient. Instead of drawing a long line with the mouse, you have to lay down one block, and then go clickety-click in a screen to build more of it. It does allow for more slender curves (ehm) to be placed, you'll see what I mean, but those could have been put in without the expense of usability.

Altogether, I'm sticking to TTD. But again, the demo was really only showing what TTD can do too - apparently the major changes are in scale and you need full version to decide on that.

The clickety-click track laying works the same as building a rollercoaster track in RCT? Wasn't really clear from your post...

                          also, we want SCREENSHOTS!
<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners. If you devirginised them yourself, though, that's another story. If they devirginised each other, then, I hope you had that webcam running.
Play Bumps! No, wait, play Slings!

Ah! Yes! That's what I was trying to say.

There's really not much to show there. (And I uninstalled it already )

The new game is using Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 Graphic for the ground texture. It is also using RCT 1 build methods and the game engine is RCT 1. The only year (1925) of the demo go quite fast and the bldg look like they came out of twentys.
I get the feeling that Chris or Atari is going after the young Childrens market. Ages 9 and up.

However the Trains in the demo look like the real train that they represent (Special 2-4-2 and a Balwin 2-8-0) and they are twice as big than in the original games. The bus is still small, but again there are only two buses to select from (WMC Bus and a Vulcan VSD Bus).

You can not build an Airport in the demo, not enough money. The two planes are DH-16 and a F.7.

There is a picture of a Boeing 707 and it look like a 707.

If you compare the graphics of this game and Transport Giant, TG kills this game.

I will still buy this game either tomorrow or Wed. Depends on who gets it first, EB or SW Etc., and later this week or next, I will have TG. Just hope TG will not be a waste of money.

Played the demo. Really like it.

Keeps to the spirit of Transport Tycoon and adds the easiness and functionality of the RCT engine and design. It also has multiplayer.

The track building method may be annoying sometimes, but the added functionality it provides is well worth it. You'll get used to it, and you probably already are if you've played Roller Coaster Tycoon.

That's not the only scenario in the demo. There's also a Britain 1955 one under a harder difficulty setting.

Did you try taking out a loan? I didn't bother personally, but just a thought.

Meh, they both have mediocore graphics. Locomotion, however, also has functional graphics.

I'd skip on Transport Giant, personally.
