Spikey, I've got NWN but I haven't played it yet, being still embroiled in BGI, but perhaps this will help.

In BGI there is an option to turn on group infravision, so that if only one of your party has innate infravision then everybody can benefit from it. Does this option appear in NWN too? In fact, I seem to recall your mentioning that your PC fighter was a human, and I don't know what race Dorna is, but elves and half-elves get infravision automatically.

I don't think that is in NWN. It's a different edition rules and different engine.

I don't think I can win this battle without some way to cast ultravision. Man I am regretting not taking some cleric levels for Dorna now.

        * duke makes a mental note to choose a character with infravision when he gets round to playing NWN. I need the practice for the Dungeon of Apolyton!

Do you think that was a subtle enough hint to Jamski to complete the "refinements"?

I just won that battle. I had to use lame cheese-o-kill one or two baddies at a time then run out the portal tactics though.

What card do you have DC? I had some serious issues with my R9000 (or was it the 9600?).
Just wondering, what were your exact problems with the game? Before I purchased a videocard- my mouse wouldn't show up in the game... it would 'flicker'... and the editor crashed every 2 minutes... so I upgraded- now the game's editor works fine, but the game itself crashes before I can load any modules (including the campaign)

okay I finished SOU with my Druid/Shifter.

A few battles gave me trouble. The dead wind and the wise wind. Those have always been the toughest battles of the game. The final battle is actually kind of easy.

When you used Xanos with your mage I suppose you made him a barbarian?
                yep, barbarian.

As for J'nah. I also had the gnoll allies. I think I had call lightning at this point as well. I can't remember which form I used. Probably one of the wormlings.

                  Its THAT good.

Sorry to PBEM people who were waiting, GO orders etc... but this is worse than Evercrack.

The actual interface allows for a wonderful RP experience. *sings*

Sorry, I'm really high on this game... gotta get back to my server. Send me a PM or an e-mail if its urgent.

BTW, the HotU campagin is good, but nothing compared to the fun to be had in world with real humans and a real human DM. No waiting for the freeze spell to wear off - your friends have dispelled it - or you can stand there making jokes "Hey guys, I'd love to, y'know move a bit sometimes..."

Anyway... see ya later 'poly *waves*

sounds like a good world. Which one is it?

often times other people like to move too quickly for me. I like taking my time and exploring every area, and talking to every significant NPC.

Ah, NWN and NWN: SoU. I love that game.

Been a while sine I played through either campaign, though. I think I played through both twice before I moved on to the various mods available online and then eventually other games. I guess it might be worth going back at some point just for the hell of it.

Of course, what would be infinitely more cool is if we had an Apolyton multiplayer group for the main campaign or any of the mods.

I am trying to get the wind from the arcanist's tower in chapter 2 of SoU. I am in the room with the lich (who has the wind) and a bunch of shadow healers and mages. This battle should not be difficult, but there are a lot of mages, and they all try and cast darkness. I cannot find a counter to it with my party, which consists of a level 12 fighter and a level 12 rogue. Hence they beat on me whilst I can't see, since they all have the ability to see in magic dark.

Most other classes could of course cast ultravision, or at least the PC could use a scroll. However the PC is a fighter and can't use scrolls. The rogue can but I can't get Dorna to use the ultravision scrolls. It appears you can't dispel darkness either, at least with the ring I have with dispel powers.

So how can I win this "easy" battle with my characters?
this one you may try running around the back side of that square.

Taking them all on at once can be tough.

there's a thread in the bioware forums about putting the baby you can get in SOU into a machine in HOTU that will turn the baby into a device that can summon a drider . Sick. I love it.

although I'm not sure if it is confirmed. It could be a joke.

One of the BioWare employees hinted to us that we should see what happens when you put the baby into the machine on their forum the day after the game came out (when I was active on the SoU forum). Given that it came from that source, it's entirely possible. I've never tested it, so I have no idea whether he was just kidding around with us.
