well ive explored most of the hive. Picked up Da'akon.
Got reborn into a DIFFERENT place - that was interesting.

Ive dualed to a thief - was that a mistake? I started on the road to go mage, but that seems "fruitless" so far.

I killed Krystal - after getting info from her. Will that limit the rest of the game terribly. generally ive been role playing more or less as chaotic good. Of course the nameless ones alignment is true neutral. Does all this matter eventually?

BTW, is it cheesy to pick up loot after the two gangs fight each other?

Ive used "junk" the place that takes me to is quite rough - i find i finally need to use charms and spells to win fights.

I have not yet found Pharod, which I presume will open up more plot.

I'm not sure who Krystal is.

I assume you mean you used junk to open up that portal. That should take you to the trash wardens. You eventually will need to go down there. But I suggest poking around buildings in the various areas of the hive and doing some more quests.

If you can't handle the battles in the alley of dangerous angles, then you need more experience before continueing down the trash warrens . A couple of those battles can be a little challenging.

As for the thief, it doesn't matter too much what you play as. If you are more comfortable as a thief, that's fine. You can switch back and forth using various NPC (even some in your party). I think Dakkon can train you as a fighter. A women in the northwest area who is a witch trains you as a mage. Also a woman in the northwest can train you as a theif.

And yes, finding pharod will open up alot. The game flows fairly fast from there. At first the game can be kind of daunting, because you have no direction. You are just roaming around town. But as I said, it might be best to pick up a little more experience around town before going down and finding pharod.

I was being deliberately obscure, as an alternative to using spoiler mode, which i find awkward. Sorry if that was confusing.

Ive done about as many quests as i can figure out and do in the areas that are open to me. I may be missing something, but I presume to complete the rest i need to leave the hive, and i cant do that till i find Pharod.

Ive reached the point where i can handle those battles, pretty much.

Yup, i love the way the game integrates dual classing INTO the story. A major advance over BG, I think.

Ive leveled up all 3 party members at least once, and the nameless one twice before dualing. I think im ready.

          you're ready

yeah I think there may be one battle I found challenging in the trash warrens. So you should be okay if you made it through.

That's what charms are for anyways. I just never seem to get around to using them . Like potions. I hoard them for some reason.

I'm not sure where you can rest. But once you get through the trash warrens you will come into another area where you can find a place to rest. And a shop to sell stuff.

sounds like you are ready. Just have to go slow and cautious through the trash warrens.

As for Krystal, iirc you can side with one or the other gang leader. I don't think it makes that much difference who you side with.

            .
I have been simply running out of the warrens and back to the midwifes house to heal and/rest. I hope thats not considered cheesy. I found the place beyond the warrens, but havent explored it yet.

You realise its not so straightforward to run back out of the warrens... not once you're through that gate...

long as you have plenty of junk, you can return as many times as you want.

I mean from the lower warrens, whatever they're called. When you get back to the gate its closed, and you'd better have a few bits of copper ready.

silly me. I found the gate shut and didnt even try talking to the guards through the gate.

I think you can threaten them for less with a decent STR, or sweet-talk them with a godly CHA.

btw, im still carrying the various documents i found in the mortuary, figuring i never know when something will open up a portal, or whatever. Do i need to continue this pack rat behavior, or will the game give me an idea of what i need to open the portals i need, as it did for access to the trash warrens?

most of that stuff you can junk. I'm not sure, but in games like Baldur's Gate2 you can put items into a container and they will stay there.

So you can find a safe place in the hive to stash some of your stuff if you aren't sure.

There are a couple places where you will be in dungeons and won't have access to the hive. But eventually you will return.

I went into the catacombs, but didnt know how to get back out till you and Jamski commented.

ok, while in the catacombs first time, going through central area and all the side crypts, but not dead nations or the other big area (forgot the name) i collected, among other things, several skulls and stuff, including two wererat skulls. Will this be useful anywhere (other than the tattoed leg, ive figured that one out already)

Second time in i went to dead nations. Fought instead of talking. Was that a mistake? Ive now got NPC skulls - do I need those? Also found a silver ring - first ive seen in the game - is that the missing piece for the guy in the alley of dang angles who needed a gold, silver, and bronze ring?
