I think the 1 HP damage is supposed to add realism and make sure that you don't. I've never seen a character start with it before, so it's some bad luck. Somewhere between a 1 in 4 and a 1 in 12 chance, depending on class, and presuming no bonus to constitution.

Two fighters though! Two games in a row. I was most annoyed. But I'm keeping the pantaloons this time round.

I was also thinking that my party could have made short work of the attackers so Gorion must have been a pretty crummy mage. I mean, if they were that hard, then he should have summoned some beasties to take care of them/create a diversion while he legged it.

We're all out of Stilton I'm afraid, but now is an excellent time to see where you stand on the matter of my favourite blue (green) cheese: Rocquefort.

Well I crashed when I moved to the Friendly Arms Inn in the previous game, and in the next two last night. What can I do to stop this or should I just go back to playing BGI out of the box?
It's a shame that it keeps crashing because I was really enjoying hacking all the gibberlings, wolves and xvarts to pieces!

I'll take Tutu off then, and go back to playing BGI from the beginning. I'm tempted to be a holier-than-thou paladin.
Jam, can you remind me what to do to get them to walk quicker.

Run BGconfig or whatever its called, and move the slider from 30 up to whatever takes your fancy. Set it to 45 for 50% faster, 60 for twice as fast etc. The slider is called something like "AI actualisiations per second" but there's not a whole load of sliders to play with anyways

This makes the monsters walk quicker too, so be ready on that spacebar.

I had a "diabetic moment" at the weekend and bashed my left hand to a pulp on the dining table, but it can still press space in those imminent fight emergencies. I've now got one fat person's hand and one normal hand. Apologies to anyone who is in fact this fat.

My spacebar is usually a little dodgy, due to uncontrollable anger moments whilst gaming. This can also lead to hands resembling Duke's.

Fortunately no real MP for the last few months means my current spacebar works fine.

Well I have restarted BGI with Tutu, and it's loads harder than the first one! I started two games, and died at the cut scene where you and Gorion are attacked. One of the assailants casts a spell that you have no chance of dodging or even attacking them beforehand and since my characters only had 1HP (low CON & ordinary rules) then that killed them. I learned from this, and put the rules on easy, got a Kensai with 2 longswords and 18-18-18-10-10-10 after a decent roll, and am at the Friendly Arms Inn. Even when I picked up Xzar and Montaron we were attacked by 12 xvarts and my 5HP character bought it pretty soon in that fight. By my character does about 14 points of damage with a decent hit.

how can you die there? you are unkillable there.

Being able to duel-wield, with the extra 2* in it for a Ranger, made my character very powerful, even just using maces and warhammers, as he was to be dueled to a cleric near the begining of BGII. Still need to play on with him, as he's not got *that* far into BGII, IIRC.

i got kind of bored. I only got to the point of finishing Naskel mines, but I found it easier as well. You can get some really good kits. I was a Paladin. I had the good Paladin kit.

It shouldn't be that buggy. I think it only crashed once or twice in the time I played. I didn't play that much. I just got to the point where I finished Naskel Mines.

Some systems are just more stable than others...

If it is crashing that much, you probably do want to go back to the old version. And I'd avoid using katanas in BG1. Long swords is a better choice.

Well I downloaded the latest Tutu tweakpack, and it promised that katanas were available from early on in the game. I know that I won't get any magis swords with it in BGI, but that doesn't matter any more because I'm off to play the ordinary one again.
Maybe as a Paladin....

I'm playing KOTOR now, and I must say that the BG games are a lot more tactical, hell kotor is just plain easy! I'm playing on normal settings of course, perhaps I should set it to hard
