Just a sidenote that i started merging the sources and am nearly done with what i could get and got.

These are the patches I'm missing (all by Fromafar):

Beside that, 2004 is complete and 2003 is almost complete (thanks again for your help, Martin).

    TBD:
    • collect missing patches. Fromafar? Martin? Anybody else?
    • perhaps update svn:ignore properties a bit
    • cross fingers that dump fits on webspace (current size: 115349625 bytes, ~29MB bzip2 compressed)

The attached zip contains two lists:
    • rep_ignore.txt Mainly files generated during compilation, thus to be ignored by version control
    • rep_skip.txt Above files plus some files of patch sets, that are unneeded (e.g. backup copies)

@kaan: trunk is about 53MB atm.
when i'm finished and you load the dump onto the server, checkouts need to be wiped and made again, so i didn't request a account yet.
do you host on windows or linux (i.e. does the dump need to have CRLF eol-style or LF eol-style as native)?

I figure that we need the subversion server and a bugzilla, and maybe even a gameserver for multiplayer.

      Is there anything i forgot?

Maybe a homepage with information on how to use these services? A Wiki perhaps?
Google search: bug tracking +wiki +project management +subversion

Looks nice, can anybody check if this something for us?

Well, I've finished stage 1 - all the source alterations are in the repository. (Three mistakes that I know about crept in, I hope there aren't too many others that I don't know about...)

Now I just need to set some properties properly... Should be possible with a couple of well-written shell scripts (easy, right ).

...and it looks like ctplinux fan is nearly done too. I know I said I wouldn't bother if he did, but my pride got the better of me. Well, competition is healthy, but I still think his will be better than mine .

Hmm... That sounds very big. Are you using the --deltas option when you dump? With that, mine is only 21MB uncompressed, 15MB compressed.

This would be nice, please email them to holger.thon@inetmx.de

Well, i wrote a perl-script to generate it on-the-fly, don't know how to implement the delta format. But if i dump the repos with --deltas, it's 26MB uncompressed and 18MB bz2-compressed.

I'm missing everything from before 2004.02.01, at which time the naming conventions were rather confused anyway, and I didn't really try to handle those files properly. The first thing I added to the repository past the pristene Activision package was the 2004.03.28 all pack.

That sounds more plausible. If you've got all the revisions right from the start then that would seem a sensible figure.

Keep up the good work .

For myself, I've become a little confused by text encodings. If only Martin didn't have an umlaut in his name...

Oh, sorry, i forgot i had to delete that address because i got too much lovely spam, wonderful ...
                    It's still @inetmx.de , but ctplinuxfan@ that domain.

I'll collect the files before 2004.02.01...

From what I can see, it looks good, and I can't see any reason not to use it. It appears to provide convinient integration between all the aspects we have (subversion, bug tracking, documentation).

Right, I finally conquered the umlauts and I think my construction is done.

I've built a repository with most of the alterations in place (as mentioned before I'm missing the ones at the beginning, and also 3 in the middle got misplaced slightly. Because I wasn't sensible enough to build it in an automated fashion (as I deduce ctplinuxfan is) there's not really any easy way for me to go back and put them in without starting from scratch), up to my last source patch (the num players alteration).

I've used mostly the same conventions as cplinuxfan, except that I didn't change the svn:date properties, but rather stored the posting date in apolyton_post_date, and I haven't set all the svn:eol-style properties on the source files.

The svn:ignore properties are sufficient for the debug and final versions, but not the release version.

kaan: The bzip2-ed dumpfile is a fraction under 15MB, which is more than I can email - are you perchance running an ftp server on this machine of yours too?

Of course, if you'd rather not bother with mine and simply skip to ctplinuxfan's version that's fine - but it seems sensible to me to take both .

I just finished the dump, too.

@kaan: I just have 180MB volume left for this month, so i just sent you a link, to make sure you will be able to download it.

My problem is very much that i dont have the time these next few months.
Ille see what i can do about a ftp server today.

Well, if you're short of time, don't worry about me - focus on getting ctplinuxfan's dump in place, and then mine will probably be basically obsolete anyway.
