  • Why not? In fact, with a few more votes by CtP2ers casted, CtP2 is now starting to threaten Civ2's first place (29 votes apart by my latest count) and CtP1 is competing with SMAC for 4th place (with Civ1 seemingly locked on #3).
Civ3 is now only a distant number 6

A few more votes and CtP2 may take the crown

Thanks for the news Gilgamensch, I am not often lurking in the Off-Topic part of the forum and I would have completely overlooked this thread...

Well Tamerlin that is the Other Games forum not the off topic forum. The OT forum is for everything than games and the Other Games forum is for all games except civ style games. And as this is a site about games it is on topic, therefore you got +1, because you posted there.

I aggree with Locutus Civ3 is just a poor civ clone and Civ2 - well it is an important game in Civ history but CTP is superior. Therefore we should put which is truely suppiory at its place where it belongs to.

Hehe, you should wait until my FoA is posted, I'm totally burning Civ3 to the ground there I tried to put things nicely most of the time to prevent too much flaming from erupting once it's posted, and to sort of maintain something of my (and Apolyton's) good relationship with the Firaxis people, but I'm not saying an awful lot of good things about that game

I thougt the Firaxians where already irked about all the critics from Apolyton. Therefore they went to CivFanatics, because much less people asked them why Civ3 is so bad. Maybe you should also post it there so that the Firaxians remember it doesn't matter where they go if they do bad work they cannot be secure of annoying fans.

Posting there not gonna fly: for one thing it's not suitable (tooo loooonnng), for another I'd just get banned (You can say anything you want on that site, as long as the mods agree with you )

I don't really care if the Firaxis people get to read it. But there's a difference between fans *****ing on them or Apolyton staff *****ing on them -- the latter could really hurt the site, not just in terms of lesser forum visits by Firaxians. So I have to be a bit careful about what I say.

I did not notice it was in the Other Games forum, I am not often lurking here neither...

Well, it seems to be important to some of us...

Well in that case it is not suitable to post it on CivFanatics.

Well it is a private site, but I aggree the moderator's actions there are a little bit bizarre. So let's compare the site rhules about "What I can't post":

                      Apolyton:

Insults, flames, hatred comments, spamming, advertisements are an abuse of your priviledge to post and can result to a penalty
                      CivFanatics:

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this forum.
Looks like the Fanatics are more restrictive. And obviously they define what is knowingly wrong and inaccurate and 'knowingly' has to be emphasized.

That is indeed a really good reason.
