Hehe of course the strategy that wins is the best strategy Toni, and its not always the same one.

I wonder if we played a x1000 giga map, if we still would pack cities so closely? I think its the expected "end" time or "war" time that all civs meet that is the reason we build cities only for size 18, then we can have a close-knit empire good for defence.

Ive seen some people leave extra border room for the capital or an early city on grassland, i try to do this sometimes if i know ive got plenty of good land to spare.

I tried building for 3 borders in all cities once against AI's but it gave me such a slow start and defending them before roads wouldve been impossible against a human.

Well, any strategy than wins a game is the best strategy, even if its not perfect, as long as it wins... But it doesnt have to be the same strategy every game, otherwise people will know what youre doing.

Like for example i know that you keep some of your cities totally unguarded, but you have so few units so you have low military support to get as much PW and production as possible. I personally prefer to have maximum martial law units in all cities so i can go over the city limit as much as possible, but of course we can both change our strategies at any time. I noticed Barley is playing the same way as you now too.

Dont worry about it, sometimes i talk in riddles.

Nicely said, Maq are we good for tonight for a new game? We planned on starting a new one today, right, hope everybody good for it. See what happens in the 3rd, should be an interesting one. We agreed to play on 2x gig map and no settlers? If so you wona change the files again if you got time later today and send me it, so we can all replace the old one and start right away.

            Heres the two files.

When you unzip to your ...\Call To Power 2\ctp2_data\default\gamedata directory, be sure they overwrite the old files.

Thanks for posting Maq, these are proving very interesting games and hope they long continue. It is good that the four of us are relatively equal in skill and experience (except the new boy Toni but ive taught him well…..hehe)

I am looking forward to the next set of games (and better land), I think the 2x map will be better still.

One further improvement we could make to the 2x map is maybe increasing Naval unit movement, maybe double.

Im next available Sunday around 8-9pm GMT (can play for about 5 hours), cannot guarantee the time as ill be coming back from a mates and don’t know what time ill be leaving – should definitely be back for nice (maybe sooner around 7)

Now got ICQ my no. is 196169797

              Peter Triggs

In multiplayer games as said War is nearly always the likely end game scenario and depending on the proximity of your opponent (often close) it is likely that a war could start any time and normally either at the advent of either Knights or Cavalry hence quick expansion and growth is very important, you would waste to much tike if you were to space cities 8 tiles apart.

Again as said if on grassland or if peace till turn x (to make the game longer) is agreed then ill maybe space cities further apart but again not until ive built about 10 cities (until then the spacing is usually about 2).

Yes, they are interesting games with 4 of us, i thought i might get bored with the slower pace but theres more possibilities and more time to consider things so its more fun.

I would say me and you Barley are equal in skill while Toni is a few tricks ahead and maybe Cloud even further ahead, remember Cloud hasnt had any really good land yet and i think he fought off 3 stacks of Toni's pikemen before he collapsed didnt he? so we'll see hehe.

I still have your old ICQ 105394619 and i couldnt find the new number on the database

Yes the coming games look to be very promising indeed. Maq you are very right about Clouds bad land starts and hes skills, but i don't agree he is better then me, at best we are equal, last time we played the game often with original settings 1vs1 i had a 7:0 win run so make your conclusion.

Yea Cloud is 1 of the best for sure, he is veru instrumental when needed. Oh afcourse the 7 games i won were with peace treaties, meaning that develpment won the game, so i won them all. But if i play with him without any peace, hmmm it may be a tough one so again, depends on what game is it, actually been playing and rules

                              *BUMP*

Resurrecting the old thread for (hopefully) the game.

Are we using the sourcecode patch + no "goody" huts + 1.5x giga map?

edit: another change is that you cant see the ranking graph from load/save screen now if you are host. Should i also take away the Score on ranking screen or leave it?

Id like us all to download the latest sourcecode patch sometime but i think its too late to get that sorted now, so maybe for next game.

                                Okay here are the changes,

                                - Nothing from goody huts.
                                - x1.5 Gigantic Map
                                - x2 Slower science
                                - Starting techs: Toolmaking, Agriculture, Religeon.
                                - No ranking graphs or details of score. (but overall score remains)
                                - No ''overall'' graph on load/save screen for host anymore.
