  • Ok, I got the game working in XP now, but it'll only start single player games. When I double click on the PBEM file to do my turn it just goes to the usual start up screen (the video followed by the screen where you choose a single or multiplayer game etc). Any suggestions as to how to get it to quit doing that and just open the darn turn?

Sorry this is holding the game up. I guess you can next me if I don't get this resolved in the next day or so.

    • you usually have to start the game once (up to the main menu) before windows realizes it should open CTP turns with it properly.
also, if you have renamed the file yourself, it may be that you chose the standard "sav" extension instead of "csg" for saved email games.

      did that help ?

      • I tried changing the extension to .sav and it still did the same thing. Because I was having trouble getting anything to happen when I first installed the game, I manually chose what to open the PBEM file with and used the activision/civiilization- call to power/'playctp' file. I also tried the 'activision/civilization- call to power/ctp_program/ctp/civctp'. Both bring me to the video sequence and start screen rather than opening the PBEM turn. Should I be using something else?

        • i meant that the extension should be "csg" not "sav"

manually telling windows what to do seems to be the problem to me. i think i did that once too and had to manually remove it from the windows registry, then reinstall (or at least restart) CTP again.

            • im sorry. but thats what i would suggest too.
it may even be necessary to manually remove the entry of "csg" files from windows before you reinstall.

berxpert, I have goods to sell and I put them on the market a few turns ago to see if you'd pick them up. do we need to make initial contact before we can trade? or are my prices just out of your league

                      • you need to see the city you are importing from on the map. only then can you create an import route to one of your city (you naturally see your own cities on the map )

                        • apparently i used an old modification to start this game. as a result, people with standard text files seem to be unable to contact me diplomatically.
i would like to ask if its okay to give such modified text files to those who want to contact me to make this possible.

as i said: you need to see each exporting city that you want to import goods from.
for a direct offer by clicking on the good you naturally need to see the good too.
