  • LOL... ummm... I don't see that as against the rules anywhere... Why not?!! In fact, why not book a billion wins for Gavrushka!! But there would also have to be one billion losses for Gavrushka ... Should I still book it?

      • speaking about rules.. would it be okay to agree with an opponent to start with different conditions, for example different number of settlers ?

there is currently a discussion going on about this in the SL *9 reports thread.
Baal: "You dare mock me ?"
O'Neill: "Baal, c'mon, you should know ... Of course I dare mock you."

        • Math, yes. As long as the game is Civ: Call to Power PBEM, and both players agree to all the settings beforehand, everything, except cheating, is permitted in the CTP PBEM Challenge Ladder.

          • just thought it would negate the idea of the ladder representing player strength.

              • i mean if a player gets an agreed advantage in a game, apart from the game's inherent randomness that will consequently negate itself in the long run and cannot be prevented anyway, if that player wins the game it might not represent the larger skill of that player.
but its okay, i can live with it nonetheless as i wont make those asymmetric agreements.

                • I think I see. You mean if a player is artificially strengthened in the set up to even the game... right? In that case, it shouldn't be a Challenge Match because of the handicap, in my opinion. But if the player with the weaker set up agrees that it is a Challenge Match, then so be it.

                      Agree with Quinns .....

But one would consider himself (there ARE unfortunately no HERself) very-very strong to offer such a setting.

Personally I would NOT do it, as most of the new-bees are much more advanced in the gameplay now-a-days than we - the oldies - was when we started playing PBEM).
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.

Keygen and Nimrod are currently discussing this in the SuperLeague*9 reports thread for their upcoming ladder match.

                              • Well, the PBEM Mod would be used, meaning that I would start with 3 settlers and Nimrod with 4 so it wouldn't be that bad. The problem would be if I would start with a single settler and Nimrod would start with 2 settlers. Nimrod insists we start equally so there is no issue anymore
