How about a game?
3 or 4 players. We take only human ones, but there are 2 Alien factions.
All Ai are enhanced, possibly:
- changed faction files
- satellites

Map: around large, maybe 50x100, or 52x104
native life: medium to abundant

I would take Hive
we can play the same factions, so anyone wishing to take a Hive too, is welcome to do so.

Typically I start Pirate Factions off in an archapeligo, which is a roughly 50/50 mix of land and sea tiles arranged in a maze-like environment that favors the defense. IMO this then gives Pirate players a much better chance than the typical open water starting locations, where attack can come from any direction. I also typically give Pirate players the option of having several land units (a CP, scout, etc.) as well, as they can then also utilize the "forest and forget" strategy on the land tiles in their achapeligo, as well as planting sensors.
