There is a 500 post rule amd I believe it came about for the reason you cite (although I can't imagine that would be an issue these days) . The rule is still enforced in the off-topic forum and I imagine the reason a mod has not closed this is they don't look in her much.

Blurry-eyed from all the frantically-chaired meetings, newly-elected Planetary Governor Mid takes to the stand,

"I'd like to thank all of you who voted for me, and I assure everyone that the Peacekeepers will strive to continue the traditions of unity and red-tape, of promising much but being too busy discussing obscure legal issues to actually achieve anything, in the manner of all good governmental bodies."

[drones on for hours in a similar fashion until nearly everyone's asleep]

His PA then leans towards him, and whispers something in his hear. For a brief moment, Governor Mid appears panic-stricken. However, he swiftly composes himself and makes a closing statement,

"I apologise, but I must take my leave now [sighs of relief amongst those still awake] - it seems proposals have been put forward at Peacekeeper HQ to reduce the length of time it takes to get a hearing at Peacekeeper HQ for proposals to be put forward! Thank you."

With that, Governor Mid takes his leave. His will surely be a term to remember.

Wow... an eye-opening turn - I never realised before just how badly I managed my economy! In single-player, it generally didn't matter and my games were usually all but won at this point. Those crawlers have actually been holding me back by hogging squares that are more beneficial to work from a base (and I wondered why my bases didn't seem to be growing any more!).

This is unfamiliar territory at this stage of the game!

Single player is far far far easier than multiplayer. Th AI never learn to co-operate when the human starts to exceed them.

Plus, the smac AI is really really bad at teh one thing they should be good with: economics

Except if you have too few formers and weather paradigms and thus too few mines and condensers for your leftover crawlers from earlier
