My recollection is that you have more formers than me and FAR FAR more crawlers-- So I don't think you should be -- ITs not that you haven't terraformed enough, its just that you have so very very many crawlers- I wish I had your problem-- I actually have bases WORKING mines

Are you peeking in my bases again? Or perhaps you spotted one of my "Falcons". I am surprised at your surprise though since mid could have updated you on my research progress. I am surprised that he did not. You SHOULD have voted for ME for governor after all

My thinking is that a strong interceptor force is a great deterrent from those that may have. . . . I don't know . .. a huge industrial capacity Fusion interceptors on my frontier with the drones just seemed prudent.

                • turn 2210 received, will play later. umm btw. i forgot to explain the reload message in 2209. the game crashed on me when i clicked on a "forest spreads near"-message, something that it seems i should avoid in the future

                  • Ahh that makes my turn sent message redundant

As for the reload, I find they happen from time to time for no fathomable reason so no worries on my end

                              • Hackerflub pondered recent events. It had been a trying transition to planned as both ecologists and free marketeers had screamed at him from opposite side of the political spectrum. BUt the population seemed happy. After just a few months, the medical staff had noted a huge increase in the rate of pregnancies and Hackerflub always took that as a sign of a happy population. A baby boom was imminent.

This change to planned could cause external conflict as well. Although they were good friends, Hackerflub knew the Morganites despised "planned" economies and could not tolerate them. This however would be balanced as the Drones should be happier with the abandonment of "Green". Hackerflub sighed " you can't satisfy everyone though as the Gaians would be peeved if we went free market"

Otherwise external matters were mixed. Hackerflub was pleased with having reached some boundary agreements . Losing the governorship appeared to be a blessing in disguise. The trade income was missed but it was a taxing job and it was probably good to have someone else do it for a while. Hackerflub thought it might suit the peacekeepers although they tended to just discuss things and never actually do anything but form committees to discuss the possibility of forming a committee to study comissioning a feasibility study of doing a feasibility study etc etc and on and on.

The Gaians were the most puzzling to Hackerflub. While they had always been somewhat uncommunicative on the public comms, of late they did not answer any diplomatic messages. This failure to respond was doubly puzzling when it was combined with incursions by Gaian forces into clearly marked Angel territory. The forces were too lightly armed to be an invasion force yet there they were . " What were they thinking?" mused HackerFlub , "Could they really think I wasn't patrolling the area and hadn't spotted their ship even before it made landfall? --- and then no response at all to my request for an explanation .. . Its good they withdrew on my request but I guess they knew they were outgunned and really had no choice-- Perhaps I should ask Governor mid to investigate. He might be able to form the committee to investigate the feasibility of talking to the Gaians by 2025 ."

The harsh chirp of the comm startled Hackerflub from his musings.

"Yes?" said Hackerflub as the defense minister appeared on his vidscreen.

                                " Sir . . we have had contact with the Gaians . .. . "

"Well about time!", interupted Hackerflub " After so many messages, its about time they responded. But the embassy should just forward their message in due course . . . Wait, why is Defense calling me and not foreign affairs? What's going on?

"Well sir, I'm not quite sure. I did check with the foreign affairs department before calling you. Official channels remain silent. But, this morning at about 0632 a small motor launch signalled our patrol cruiser "Valiant" in our Southern Home Waters and then came alongside. Four individuals came aboard. They identified themselves as Gaians dissidents that wished to open a dialogue with the Angels as they disagreed with their government's foreign policy. The captain of the Valiant identified all four from his onboard Datalinks. Three are mayors from northern Gaian communities while the last is the deputy leader of a minor political party that garners up to 35% of the vote in two remote prefectures but has never exceeded 6% nationally. All four have been increasingly critical of their central government in recent days"

                                "Well what do they want?"

"Sir they want to speak to YOU"

Hackerflub reflected for a moment, "I don't know what they want and the whole manner of this approach strikes me as very odd. I want a Special National Intelligence Estimate . Be prepared to present it to a meeting of the Inner Council in one hour. What are the Gaians doing now?"

" Well sir, the captain of the Valiant is a sharp one. He heard their request and then insisted that the Gaians enjoy a dinner in their honour. He indicates he feels he can politely extend things for about three hours but on his current orders he would not prevent the Gaians from departing if they wished to do so."

"Thats fine . . . we have no reason the detain those people . I'll see you in an hour to see what to make of all this".
